not 3lbs...................you torgue it to 33lbs.

Don't get a mechanic to install it.......you can do it easy.

Just unbolt the the nuts and put the bar on. Then put the nuts back on torqing them to 33lbs.

Honestly, even if its not torqued back at exactly 33 pounds, its no big deal. Just take the bolts off, put the bar on then tighten the bolts with a wrench or a ratchet....

Torque wrenches cost MAD money.........they are damn expensive. I paid $160 for my torque wrench. You can get a cheap one for around $30.

How a torque wrench works is you set the foot pounds of torque by turning the handle to the number needed. Then simply tighten down the bolt until the wrench releases. Once you hit that poundage the wrench will swing free letting you know that its torqued.

Don't listen to Firewall, you had better be safe than sorry. You don't want to strip the bolt. Less is more with this type of mod.

I've been wondering whether or not to get a torque wrench...they seem fairly helpful, but they are MAD MONEY!

If you do all your own work on your car with suspension and other modifications, then it is a good investment. Plus you can rent it out to friends who need to use it. $5 a pop.

sears sells torque wrenches for $25 (beam style). you don't really need more than this, unless you actually are a mechanic.

You get what you pay for. Is that all that your car is worth to you? I would hope not. This car is my baby and she only gets the best. Besides, if we work on our cars, does that not make us a mechanic???

seriously don't buy a torque wrench just to do a strut bar install, it's a waste of money. now if your planning on doing a lot of installing yourself, then you should invest in one. i just use the internal torque meter in my brain

actually better yet, just borrow one from like a friend, or even some tool stores have a borrowing thing where you pay them a renting fee.

Yea man, it's exactly like a socket wrench, only its has a weight setting on the handle. Turn the handle to your ft/lbs you need(33ft/lbs in this case) and start turning. You only need the wrench to put the bolts back on. You can use a regular one to take them off.

It might be easier to use the torque wrench to take them off because of the length of the lever. My half inch drive torque wrench is about 1.5 feet long. Makes for getting that leverage with pulling off those tight bolts.

Exactly. It's what I have. I've used it for all of the heavy duty bolts. The small fries I can eye ball. I've never stripped a bolt or broken a stud. My torque wrench is accurate to within 4% and I take care of it, so that it doesn't get de-calibrated.

Anyway, the front DC Sports strut bar sucks. At least the aluminum one. I don't know about the titanium one yet. Don't get it if you haven't gotten it yet. It's only for the bling bling. A little performance, but the bolted design just sucks. The bolts need re-torqueing (re-tightening) after a while. Use Loctite on them I guess? I'm talking about the bolts that hold the three pieces of the strut bar together. I had one. I sold it. 'Nuff said.
