You should try a glass repair service. I went to an auto glass shop and they put some epoxy resin in the scratch. Then they heated it with UV light. They promised if I was unhappy, they would apply the price of a fix to a new windshield, so I had nothing to lose. It actually came out great. I can barely see the chip and it only cost 35 dollars.

I would certainly give it a try.

I use Brasso to polish my windows on the outside and it helps polish out little scratches as well. Or you can use a good quality glass polish designed for that purpose. Not a bad purchase if you live where it happens alot. BUt also keep in mind that it won't work in every instance.
