not 100% sure but from my understanding, you could let the fuel flow at a high rate that is needed with a turbo. when the turbo doesn't kick in and doesn't require more fuel, the fuel return will return the unused fuel back in the fuel tank...
since we have a returnless system, we could probably tune our cars for turbo but when it doesn't kick in we are left with all that fuel that has no where to go since we dont have a fuel return.
i dont know jack about turbos or any engine mod tho so dont quote me on this, still have alot of learning to do myself.

Alright guy...just think about it: On a regular fuel injection system, there are 2 fuel lines; one going to the fuel rail/pressure regulator to supply fuel to the injectors and another one to scavenge leftover fuel from the fuel rail and return it to the tank.
On our cars, there is more precise metering and atomization of the fuel so as to promote better burn efficiency and eliminate leftover fuel, hence the return line is not needed.
This is what is meant by a "returnless fuel system". Hope this is clear now.

Ummm, actually, the returnless system does not optimize fuel etc. It is only there for emissions purposes. Fuel that is brought to the engine bay is heated up, then when that leftover fuel is returned to the fuel tank, it heats up the rest of the gas and causes vapor. Vapor through the engine causes hydrocarbons, the source of a stinking tailpipe (high emissions). The returnless fuel system is not more precise when it comes to fueling, it is more of a crude system, but it is cheaper to build, has lower emissions, and is easier to service on (ie. diagnose a problem and fix).[hr]

Good lord, get all hyped up. My mistake man, just misread your post. LOL, calm down. BTW nice pic
EDIT: WTF. Know what the hell I am talking about. Dear god, thats why I mostly just float on this site. Your not going to turn into another PinkyToe incident now are you? Don't worry about replying with some hyped up attitude, Ill just continue to float because its not worth it to argue. If you truly know about cars, then props to ya, seriously, but if your another one of these dumbarses that just read over stuff on the net and then think you know it all, blow me.

Dude, our returnless fuel systems still provides more than enough fuel and pressure to accomodate a turbo or nitrous. If you are interested in having it done for you, www.openloopmotorsports.com
