Who's Using 5W30?

Who's using 5W30 oil in their car? Synthetic or conventional? Brand?

How does it affect fuel economy? How does it affect performance and smoothness?

i use amsoil to just because were supose to use a 5W-20 weighted oil in our cars. its all synthetic and is rated for 7500 mile oil drain intervals. but you can be the judge of that.

i use m1 5-30 and it hasn't affected anything. 5-30 syn is not that much thinker and stays thinner at high temp. i don't care that the book says 5-20. i believe that it's for the emissions and gas milage ratings, there is a lot of product developement that goes into the car.

for those worried about using 5w30....i wrote mobil and asked them a few questions,,,here's the reply:

At this time we do not have information on the possible future availability
of Mobil 1 in a 5W-20 weight. Visit our web site regularly for information
on newly available products.

It is important to follow your owner's manual recommendations in order to
maintain coverage under your new-vehicle warranty. It is our understanding
that Acura's, Honda's and Ford's recommendations to use 5W-20 are driven
by
concerns for fuel economy. If you wish to use a Mobil 1 synthetic
lubricant for these applications where a 5W-20 is recommended (Ford, Honda,
Acura), ExxonMobil recommends using Mobil 1 5W-30 or 0W-30. While Mobil
1
5W-30 and 0W-30 are fuel-economy-approved viscosity grades and will provide
excellent engine protection, they might not provide the same fuel economy
as 5W-20.
