Any way to reset the odometer?pls help

I just wonder if we can reset our car's odometer since it's a electric device, if I discount it from electrice, it will go back to zero, right?
I want to do that because I have a 2002 Civic Ex with almost 40000 miles on it, and the AC compressor already making noise, dealer said it cost $1500 to change the whole AC system. there is no way I can afford that..........I am trying to get the warantee to cover that, anyone can help me??

Umm thats kinda against the law. If you do reset it you would have to drive it around a lot for them to not realise something. That or they'll get you arrested and jailed if they have any servicing records of your car.

yea..........I know, I have no idea why the AC fail so fast. When I bought this car, the AC wasn't even cold, I took it back, they fix it. BUT it wasn't cold in a hot day, I have to keep my rpm higher than 1500 in order to keep the AC cold. I took it back again, and they say there is no problem!!Then after my warrantee is over, the AC compress make noise!!This is so unfair!!
I bought a honda beacuse I think those AC, alternator will last for at least 100000 miles! I am so dispointed!!!

I have been driving with AC for a few months already! I really hate my civic now.........it's hot........The chassis become soft and make noise after I put those Tein coilover in and drove for about a yr. You can really tell the chassis is weak when you drive over speed bump. I put all kinds of bar in it.....but seems only a roll cage can do the job!

Well.....noise isn't a big problem......EM2 civic doesn't turn as good as EG or EK civic......even I have Tein SS, Falken Azenis tires, when I drive my friend's integra........EM2 civic is nothing!!Although it's a little more comfortable.

And my D17 engine is getting very noise even though I used Mobile 1 oil all the time! I have to replace my AEM back to stock to cover that noise.

I am so tired of it now, although I love the look of my car.......spend so much money on it and it give me no fun! I did some autocross with it.....killed many cars on the road, but I don't like it now..... may be after all my old man was right........get a Toyota........

Get an RSX-S swap done and if you get a new engine and a new ECU your mileage will be set back to 0.

the cluster will not be reset, infact, even if you do manage to change the milage on the cluster...if it doesnt match the milage in the ECM, it will default back to the original cluster miles. It happened to me when i swapped my cluster..the milage on the new cluster was a few increments off of the real milage..and as soon as i cranked the car..it went straight back to the miles the cluster had. So now my cluster is showing the miles it had when it was taken out of the old car. You have to crack codes and such to set the ECM milage back. takes a long time and around here will cost about $100+...

So are you then saying that if I had 20000 km on my old cluster and swapped in a brand new one that read 0, when I start the car, the new cluster will be changed to read 20000? Just curious cos that's the only thing stoppin me from tryin to source a whiteface Ferio cluster from good ol' Nippon.

when's the last time you had anything done to the car at the dealership? just make sure that whatever that mileage was, you reset it to after that, otherwise yer screwed for fraud
and, btw, you have to put more that many more miles on yer car, which necessarily couldnt be good...

^^Exactly. If the dealership has any records, the DMV, the dealer you bought it from and you come in with lower miles...you are pretty much screwed. Sorry you are having so many problems with your ride. Sounds like you have complained about the AC before, you may be able to convince them that the condition existed before the warranty ran out but it doesn't sound good. Good luck.

Oh, and now that you have posted the "how can I roll back my milage" question on the Internet you can't say you didn't know about it and it is definately a open and shut case of fraud. A guy did that on the WRX board, they caught wind of it, had his IP pulled, and waited for him to bring it in to the dealership. He got slammed.

If the problem was preexisting before the warrenty expired and it is still a problem, it should be covered. I had this happen on my old car. The alternator was being a pain in the ***. Went to the dealship, got it fixed. Months later, back to were I started. Took it back to the dealership, they said there wasn't a problem. Then my warrenty expired. My car ended up dead and I went to court. The judge ruled in my favor since it was a problem that was addressed with the dealership before the warrenty expired and it wasn't properly fixed!

A leak in O rings is mostly labor. Probably a few hours at 65 each hour plus 25 dollars in parts. Then a full recharge, about 100 for labor and freon.

And for the upstanding youth with bad ac, the whole system is not bad, probably just the compressor. Try taking it to an independant Honda specialist and getting a second opinion. If the compressor is failed, call the Honda Region manager and tell him that you brought your car in before warranty to get the ac fixed and now it still does not work properly. A few letters might save you hundreds.
