not to rag on the position of the wiring, but in import tuner they say to never ground the valve cover, and all their tests show that when they do ground it they lose hp.
he puts the wires in a REALLY small box though; i couldnt stuff them in there again. Haven't had a chance to install them, but im going to take pictures of my headlight beam on my wall before and after, so i'll hopefully get some quantitative results of these.

I'll take some pics as well. Oh and I did notice an improvement when grounding the valve cover. Definately a difference when compared to no grounding. I've tried both ways. The engine even sounds a bit better--like it's not struggling as much. Smoother.
Just saw this thread now and for what it's worth, I agree completely with opto_isolator about the possible negative effects of adding more ground wires (his comments were around pages 3-7). I'm an electrical engineer also, and I've taken courses on grounding for the radio equipment I work with (public safety radios - ie police walkie-talkies). By chaining a lot of parts of the car together, rather than making a central point the ground, you can have ground loops which will not benefit the car at all and could possibly damage components or make them less effective. I'm not saying that it won't help, I'm just saying that it could hurt.

Some cars offer a grounding kit as a factory upgrade, so I'm sure they do help. I would think that a ground wire attached to a part in the car will help it function better. Can you explain some more about why daisy chaining will cause problems? I felt like it helped with the stereo at least.
i think the general rule is that you have to be reasonable. yes, more grounding points with less resistance will improve your performance; but just as you have have too few grounding wires, you can also have too many, creating the grounding loops (i think that is the negative current going through one of your grounding wires, then back through another, which is bad). Just because more is good doesn't mean even more is better.
i didnt notice any difference when i installed this. maybe im just not paying attention but everything seemed the same. my car still starts exactly as it did before, my stereo sounds the same, and well i cant really tell if it got faster or not. i am not bashing the product, just saying my opinion about it. i will try other grounding points when it gets a little warmer and see if it makes any difference

I used the same grounding points that Happies suggested. I also have the ignition coils grounded like futurersxswap did. I'll take a pic and post here. My cables are all black, except for the smaller ones on the coils that are silver.

IMPORTANT!! Did you sand down the spots where you attached the cables? You need the cables touching BARE metal, and not painted metal. That could make a difference.

i just installed mine; and noticed a nice difference. Starts up a little better, and I noticed the most improvements in the headlight brightness and throttle response. Throttle response was greatly increased, and i think it has a bit more power. Didn't notice a big improvement in stereo, but hey.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WITH THE WIRE FROM THE FIREWALL TO THE STRUT TOWER!!! The first time I put it on I accidentally layed it right across the Throttle! This is bad! If i gunned it at all it stayed gunned for like 5 seconds! Use twist ties to secure the cables!

I didn't think of that. But the cables are right in back there. I better go check mine tomorrow. But seriously, this is one of those mods where you spent money and want to convince yourself that it works.If someone installed it one night and I drove it the next day, I probably would not have noticed any difference.
i switched one of my points from the battery to another spot on the engine block..i had engine whine for a while until i switched it from somewhere near the altnernator to a better spot on the engine block
My friend just bought on 04 subaru wrx and did a grounding kit on his own with cables and gold plated connectors he bought from auto sound and effects for about 30 bucks ( places will flex on the price for the gold plated connectors be persistent) he used the central grounding point method and noticed better engine running and much stonger starts in cold weather considering he has to turn over a turbo this is an excellent thread big props to whom started it i cant remember after reaading a cajillion,million responses thanks to all ill be doing this in the next couple of days to my 03 ex sedan im going to look into making a central grounding plate at my work solid copper about 3/8 inches thick ill get a pic up if i decide to do so
after reading all of the posts, it seems like everyone is just like "I THINK it works" or "it MIGHT have given me more power" or "it helped me A LITTLE in response". But, for as cheap as the mod is, I wouldnt definately buy it just for the fact that it looks good under the hood.
Only difference i noticed was smoother shifts on my Auto, headlights seem a little brighter (only i can notice it) and it starts a lil' better.
I'd still recommend getting the grounding kit.

Not that I know of. You need to go to an audio shop, get some long lengths of wire, and make a kit yourself. Gold plated ring terminals can be found at autozone.
I'm LilJoe's buddy. I have also started selling a ground kit and have installed on a number of cars (BMW, Honda/Acura, VW) with very good returns.
My kits are installed as a "parallel" setup and is a little more comprehensive.
Both kits include a machined aluminum block that shows no bolts or connections when installed. Very clean.
The Base Kit has the block, fasteners, bracket and illustrated instructions to show you the best connection points for the most performance. This is set at CDN$49. Good for the DIYers.
The Full Kit adds the cabling (both 4 and 8 Guage, which should be noted, this is big), gold connectors, battery terminal and illustrated instructions.
This is set at CDN$119
I should mention something as well. It would appear that not one person has connected the most important ground.
The correct grounding will make the charging system more efficient, making the alternator draw on the crank less. It will also bring all sensors "in line' by providing the same source voltage.
My clients have shown significant returns through increased mileage and performance.
Now, lets see if these pics work...

So are you gonna tell us which point we're not grounding, or do we have to buy your kit? I have a feeling it's something to the alternator.
Your kit is actually a good idea. I already bought the wire kit from Happies and might give your base kit a try. You have any pics installed? I wanna know where that box could go. Another thing--I guess your box accepts five wires and has one single wire coming out the back for a central ground point?

Well, the alternator is one connection, but not the one I was referring to.
The block has five ports in the front for the 8AWG cabling around the engine bay.
There are also two ports for the 4AWG to the battery and the body. You just can't see the second one.
If you're going to use the Base kit with Happies kit, let me know, I can modify the block to accept 4AWG off the front as well.
You can install this anywhere. Most popular has been passenger side engine bay, and should be close to the battery.
