New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
Looking for a new daily driver, waiting on the new Prius and the new Civic hatchback. My dealer has two 2016 Civics now. I have to get a look at them this weekend. Thought I would join this forum to learn as much as I can. Jim

Welcome to the forum!
My dealer got the invoice for our first 16 Civics today but the cars haven't arrived yet.
I keep threatening to write a check for the first one we get LOL

Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
Welcome. I cannot say anyone has any experience with a model year that hasn't arrived at dealers yet, but there are plenty with Honda and general auto knowledge. I would try and keep that bad boy under warranty as long as possible.
Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
I know! I don't really want to be one of those Prius people either but I commute 80 miles a day and need the MPG's. New Prius is 50-55 mpg. That is why I'm looking at Civic. Looks like mileage is going to be better then the Fit and I could live with over 41.

Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
Be careful of mpg claims... I've seen lots of tests where the Prius doesn't get what is expected. VW clean diesel? probably better mpg... hell my 99 Civic regularly gets 40 mpg still.
Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
I have considered an Chevy Volt but I can't plug it in at work and the figures just don't work out.
Whatever I end up with I can squeeze out a little better mpg's than estimated, I am getting 35mpg on my 08 Chevy HHR.

I'm doing the PDI on a touring Civic right now. 1.5 turbo, CVT.
This engine compartment is pretty damn busy LOL

Seen the new Civic today, that is one nice car. Love the driving position better than any car I sat in since I've been looking. Can't wait until the hatch comes out.

Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
I did go to the Dealer to look at a new yellow Fit,
mpg rating is better on the Civic
Checking Hondas website.....
The best Fit mileage looks like 33/41 for an LX with CVT trans.
29/37 with manual trans
and for some reason the EX and higher with CVT gets less than an LX CVT, 32/38
The 16 turbo 1.5 Civic with CVT said 31/42 on the sticker--and a whole lot more pep.
The 2.0 Civic CVT said 31/41.
They all seem somewhat close.
I REALLY want to see this DI 1.5 turbo drivetrain stuffed into a Fit.
I almost hope someone totals out one of these turbo Civics so I can get an drivetrain cheap LOL
Seen the new Civic today, that is one nice car.
It pulls good up to about the speed limit....... *cough* triple digits *cough*

Yeah... I wouldn't hold my breath for another Civic HB
The fit has been the replacement for the Civic HB now since 2001.
This article speculates that you may see one at the end of 2016 but I could find any documentation from Honda that says anything about a North American hatch... EU sure.
If this is it it looks like *** anyway which will probably not help NA sales...

When I got our first 16 sedan, I kinda thought with the short trunklid and long rear glass it should open up as a hatch.
Some pics, this is the Touring model with the 1.5 turbo
LED headlights, LED DRL, and LED turn signals for front, and some halogen foglights on this one
Climate control is done (partially) through the touch screen radio on this model
The entire center console and armrest are all about the same height
THEY BROUGHT BACK THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE!!!!
And the center gauge/tach/speedo/info center is not a gauge at all, it's a display screen.
Busy busy busy engine compartment:
Intercooler
Milti-link rear suspension instead of the old L shape lower control arm (fuzzy, sorry)
Worms' eye view of the rear:
For the DIY oil change this is the first thing you'll see
CVT fluid CHECK LEVEL plug on the turbo version (2.0 uses a different version of the trans)

Re: New member waiting for the 2016 Civic hatchback
I have driven both the 2.0 and the 1.5T 2016 civics and they are much much improved on powertrain. They both pull good from a stop and in passing situations. I think I had the 1.5t up to close to 100 and it was still pulling good. One of these days I will take a new one out to my long/country test drive and see what it can do on a low traffic road.
After an entire generation of meh with civic it is nice to see them put out a world class product again. The 2006 cars were such a step up from the previous cars, the 2012 just felt like the took a nap with the design and let it ride for another 4 years. I too am waiting on the wagon variant. I don't care for the new civics long rear window, it makes the trunk opening smaller.

Please note that all of those pics are from a Touring car.
I have my first LX in here this AM, the tach is a normal gauge on this one, with a speedo display in the center, along with some other stuff..
