Hello everyone!

Hello to all! I just came upon this site tonight and decided to register, as I will be in the market for a new car within the next 6-12 months, assuming all goes well. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima SE which I bought new, and have loved since....lately I've just been getting the itch for a new ride. I've seriously been considering a Civic SI 4-door, but would seriously love to be able to get a hold of a Type R, but I suspect I may have to move to Europe to do so! I have seen all kinds of things on line that the next generation SI is supposed to be a great ride, and also that the USA is supposed to be getting a Type R sometime between 2016 and '18. Any thoughts about whether to pick up an SI or wait to see what happens with the Type R? I would love to hear some opinions. Thanks to everyone, and for those who are driving them, enjoy your Civics!

Re: Hello everyone!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm waiting to see what happens in the next couple years too.
I've driven the new 2.0 and 1.5 Turbo cars and they are both quicker, the turbo is a helluva lot quicker than the standard 2015 and older Civics.....
I can't really compare them to an Si though.

There's a lot of untapped potential in the older Si cars.....

I think the new 1.5 turbo is already at about 15 PSI boost, not sure how much the tuners would up the boost to get more out of it.....but stuffing that powertrain into a Fit would make for a helluva stealth package.

Re: Hello everyone!

Thanks ezone! I was reading a bit about the '16 Civics that are just about available now, when I was looking to see if I could find anything about the '16 SI (saw a little blurb that it is rumored to have a turbo 4 producing 213 horsepower). It looks like Car and Driver tested the 2.0 and 1.5T cars, but they were disappointed that the turbo only seems to come with a CVT transmission. I have that now in my Maxima and have had just about enough of it; I'm looking to go back to a manual, which is why the SI and Type R are most appealing to me. I used to own a Sentra SE-R with a 6 speed and a high output 4 that didn't produce as much power as the current SI, and it was a blast to drive, so I'm looking to go back to a high output 4 cylinder with a 6-speed.

Re: Hello everyone!

I don't think Honda has ever figured out what time of year every other manufacturer has their poop together for the upcoming model year releases. JMO.

They are still dumping 2015 model year cars on us at the dealers. I checked in another 2015 Civic this morning.....after we already got a few 16 Civics on the lot.

========================================

Right now the only things released are the sedans.....and the way Honda does things it's anyones guess if they will actually do what they said they will.

Coupe is supposed to be released sometime "soon", hatchback a bit later, and the manual trans versions of the 1.5 and 2.0 and SI/SI-R might be held back for 2017 model year or later. (I'm not in sales, I only get to hear bits and pieces)

I put up some pics of a 1.5 turbo Touring trim car the other day if you want to look here https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ml#post4697457
