K series 6 speed on d17
K series 6 speed on d17
Hey all! I’ve done a bit of digging and I don’t think anyone has made this forum yet. So anyways I’ve been wondering, would it be possible to run a K series 6 speed on a D17A1? I’ve heard of people running the 5 speed on the K series motors, and the RSX 5 speed is almost identical to ours AFAIK. So since my input shaft bearing is about to turn into a claymore, would it be possible and feasible to put a 6 speed in? I’d rather not run into input shaft bearing issues further down the road again lol.
Re: K series 6 speed on d17
Only if you want to K swap at the same time. You cannot mount a K series transmission to a D series engine. D series engines are on the driver side while K series is on the passenger side. Meaning a K series transmission mounted to a D series would have the outputs in front of the engine. You'd also have 1 forward gear and 5/6 reverses. This is skipping over all the issues with actually getting it mounted to the engine as well.
RSX 5 speed is almost identical to RSX 6 speed. The D series 5 speed is more similar to B series.
