EPS Motor removal. 06 civic si

Trying to remove the EPS motor in my 06 civic si and it will only come out a little ways. Is there something internal holding it together? I can't seem to find a YouTube video on it. Turning it into a race car and I was told it would be like a manual rack without the motor.

Re: EPS Motor removal. 06 civic si

What's the point? If it were hydraulic power steering, I could see removing the pump to reduce engine drag. But it's EPS. The electrical load isn't that much while the car is moving. Above 100 MPH it isn't actually doing anything.

If you do remove the motor, you better make sure you seal the opening into the rack. Service manual doesn't say anything special. Just remove the motor after removing the three bolts.

We've been having problems with eps failure in both cars so I wanted to know if it was an option. Felt stuck when pulling it out and didn't want to destroy anything getting frisky with it. Thanks for the response!
