04 Lx Acceleration Issue

Hey y'all, recently we bought a 2004 civic lx 1.7L, and along with many other issues the biggest is that the car will not accelerate properly. Its very sluggish and will not go above 50~ mph. We have replaced the air filter and after clearing the Catalytic Converter only the reverse seemed to accelerate better, strangely the maint. req. light is not on, though the key light, oil light (oil is fine), and check engine lights are on, which we think might point to a computer issue. Car also takes a bit to start up, but we don't think that is related. Any input or ideas? Thank you.

Re: 04 Lx Acceleration Issue

maintenance required is just a mileage based to call for oil changes and such
read the CEL codes first and foremost

The check engine light is on for a reason. Find out what the codes are.

Thats the issue, and thats my fault cause I forgot to mention it, the codes won't read. We've tried 3 different code readers and every single one of them fails to connect/cannot find a connection, so it won't even register that its connected to the vechical.

Has work been done to the engine recently? Check alternator mounting bolts. There are three not including the wing nut.
