REV Limit Issue

For about a week now my car wont allow itself to rev over 3500 RPM'S.. Its like it has a Rev Limiter in it. I have changed plugs thinking it was just a foul plug with no success. It has actually turned completely off while driving about 55 shortly after the Rev issue. Not really sure what my next step should be. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Also, This is a 2003 Civic LX

Re: REV Limit Issue

CEL? Sounds like it's in limp mode. Oil level okay? This LX, is it an automatic?

Re: REV Limit Issue

No CEL and Oil Level is good. It is a 5 speed. I do have a Malfunction indicator lamp on, but has been off and on for about a year. I think that is an emissions issue.

Thanks for the quick response.

Re: REV Limit Issue

check your timing/timing belt, you might have "jumped time"

could also be a cam or crank sensor

I thought of that originally, but wouldn't it be much choppier of a ride. It doesnt seem to run bad while its running, just limits itself. Might be worth checking into though.

Those are 2 different names for the same idiot light.

Get the codes read. Get ALL the codes (by number not description) and freeze frame data if you can get it.

Go from there.

Re: REV Limit Issue

It pulled a "Cam Shaft Position Correlation" Code. Im pretty sure thats what he said. I was driving and didn't have a chance to write the actualy code down. Any idea on that?

Re: REV Limit Issue

What was the actual code?

P0016 isn't possible from that PCM.

I'm thinking it would be more like P0335, P0336, P0340, or P0344.
