Rev limiter at 4k rpm

Rev limiter at 4k rpm
I am having issues with my car not accelerating or shifting after 4000rpms. When I gun the engine hard to pass someone or even to go fast it revs out at 4000rpms. I have to let of the gas so the car will shift. Now the car accelerates fine if i'm not at 4000rpms. Does anyone have a clue as of what this could be. It's like I'm hitting the rev limiter but this just recently started.

Sounds like limp mode is engaged. Start off by checking your oil level and then for engine codes.

OK just so you know it's not vtech. I saw posts and they said that for vtechs. But I'll check it.
