Headers glowing red after idling for 10+ min

I am having an issue, it only happens when I idle for an extended period without moving.. Say over 10-15 minutes. My exhaust headers will be glowing red hot and I have a lack of power. Once I turn the car off for a little bit, or if i can get the car moving fast enough to get some air rushing through the problem goes away. It's not a huge issue as I know how to avoid it but I am wondering, does this mean I have a clogged cat????? I have the Civic LX with the d17a2 I believe, the non vtec sohc variant motor - manual transmission.

Any ideas of a possible cause or solution?
Thank you kindly ~

Cat is probably clogged, loosen the exhaust before the cat and see if that makes an improvement

hmmm thats what I was kind of thinking too. I will see if i can take it off and clean it,
Scotty says you can put it in some laundry soap and let it soak for a day ad it will clean it all up.

Or i could just say F the cat and shove a long metal pole in there and beat the **** out of the catalyst and break the inside up so itll never clog again , lol and be better flowing

Scrap the cat, the money you get will pay for the cost of a new aftermarket one
