How Low Should I Go?
How Low Should I Go?
I have a 2004 LX I’m looking to lower it I found some really nice coil overs that are adjustable. I wanna lower it so I doesn’t look stock but I don’t want to have to angle every time I go over a speed bump or bottom out coming out of my driveway.
Re: How Low Should I Go?
Define "really nice".
Assuming you have an "average" driveway (meaning it has a small dip at the end), you should have no issues dropping it about 1.5". Any more and you run the risk of scraping. Mind you, I scraped leaving my driveway on stock ride height so it's a tough question to answer. Calgary roads suck too so that doesn't help lol

How much do you wanna spend?
Also, like chez said, depends on the roads, speedbumps, and driveways you encounter. Chez scraped at stock, meanwhile I lowered my 2002 by about 2.5" and only scraped on stupid harsh speedbumps that SUVs would be weary of

Re: How Low Should I Go?
Had Tein Super Streets for... 13 years? Dropped $1250 on them back in 2004 and they lasted the life of the car. That $1250 was a steal back then, since the SS-P (super street with pillowball mounts, which is what I got) retailed for $1500+. Now, if you don't need adjustable dampening like the Street Advance (which replaced the Super Street line), the Street Basis run about the same price as the truharts you're looking at, maybe a bit cheaper. No matter what you get, make sure they're made for the 03-05 civics. Honda upped the crash bolt size from 14mm to 16mm after 2002.
Evasive has them for $560 shipped
If you want adjustable dampening, Evasive has them for $648 shipped
Looks like they don't make the pillowball upper mounts with fancy camber plates anymore, but if you can find some, I'd recommend them. They retailed for like $200 and they replace the entire top hat. Otherwise, use your OEM top hats
edit: case in point, I found the coilovers I had: https://www.corsportusa.com/i-19855-...er-mounts.html

Re: How Low Should I Go?
I put Tein Street Advance Z coilovers on my Civic about a year ago (thank you stimulus check). Set it for the recommended setting which was around a 1.7" drop I think. It was actually a slight lift from the Eibach lowering springs I had before. No complaints from me so far.
