2006 Honda Civic 1.8l oil in my spark plug tube
2006 Honda Civic 1.8l oil in my spark plug tube
Ok so I just did my valve cover gasket and there was a small amount of oil in my cylinder 2 spark plug tube on top of the plug . I had no misfire code car was running fine . So yesterday I drove up north to go camping and also no issues going up into the mountains and car ran fan ac didn't bog the car down that bad . So today I go to leave campsite get 30mins out start going up an incline and I drop from 60mph to about 40 and my engine light started flashing so I pull to the side grab my scan tool I have a cylinder 2 misfire . Ok fine no worries easy fix I can pop the coils out and clean them and swap and make in home or to parts store to grab a coil . Not that easy I let engine cool pop cylinder 3 off all good pop cylinder 2 off its full of oil . Like the tube it 2/4 full of oil on top of the plug and the coil is drenched in oil . So what would cause this the valve cover gasket has nothing to do with the spark plug tubes on the 1.8l . I've seen this issue on this forum and nobody ever has an answer to how to fix this or what causes this ? So I'm seeing if there is anyone that has fixed this . Spark plugs are tight , valve cover gasket was just done correctly and isn't leaking and that has nothing to do with the spark if tubes on the 1.8l 2006 Civic

So.....it took how many miles to collect that much oil in the hole?
I'd want to know how many miles it goes before there's a lot of oil in the hole.
That's free, and you know how easy it is to remove a coil and look down the hole.
If oil is truly leaking through cast aluminum for whatever reason, I want to be certain because it's not a common issue IMO and replacing the head isn't usually considered the cheapest repair.
If it's a rapid leak maybe you could briefly run the engine and visually pinpoint a location oil is entering the spark plug area.

There was no oil I drove 150 miles to a lake to go camping in AZ not sure when the oil made its way into the plug tube but the tube was at least half full with oil when my cylinder 2 started to misfire I'm not sure if it was a rapid fill or it filled driving up mountains in low gears
Re: 2006 Honda Civic 1.8l oil in my spark plug tube
I have Google replaced spark plug seal and it only shows me how to do the top which comes with the valve cover gasket but not the bottom of the spark plug tube seals I can't even find a part number for the spark spark plug tube seals I don't see anything in any of the books or anything that's why I'm on the Honda forum asking if anybody has fixed this issue themselves since I've seen this posted over and over again and nobody ever has the fix
