Suyspension feels way too hard going over speed bumps

2005 LX Coupe - 151,000 miles

When going over speed bumps I literally have to slow down as much as possible or else it feels as if I hit a pot hole instead of a speed bump. Is that normal in a civic? Is there any inspection I can do to see if there is a problem with my suspension?

Did you just buy the car? Is the suspension OEM or original?

typically that is the case when shocks are on the way out (or already out)
but do check before changing

I have the same problem with my 04 coupe with new struts..... I am thinking its the lower control arm bushings... I'm going to swap em out (the LCA's & balljoints) this spring and see if it fixes it.
