Wreck of a mess
Wreck of a mess
Okay I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 4-door
it has 20600 miles with 1 engine swap (1st engine blew a piston threw the block)
New (used) engine has 86k miles on it allegedly
I have put on the ebay special CAI (ram air setup, cold air made vehicle hydro-lock in rain)
Also, the cat has been gutted...didn't have 400 for a new cat.
so I get 24mpg city.....somehow this doesn't seem right to me....ideas? or is this because i'm using a metal air intake that gets very hot, and because my cat is gutted causing a CEL
alsooooo, i'm a delivery driver so i need to get there fast and tend to drive my car all day long.. so should I stick the factory air intake back on there till I can afford a composite CIA? also would a transmission cooler be a good idea for vehicle life......

Re: Wreck of a mess
how long ago?
Drving style? remember that when coasting in gear, if you take foot off the throttle the fuel cuts until you step on the gas again. feathering pedal helps tons too. (no excess step;ping, just what you need).
did you feel a drop after the intake install? If not, then no point in changing intake.
if yes, is the sensor well plugged? no vacuum leaks?

well I noticed that i got about 38 highway which to me is good, but the metal pipe itself gets very hot threw-out the day and i'm wondering if that is causing it to lose mpg from hot intake.
