Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Just put in some neuspeed race springs and did a test drive. I hear a clunking noise in front right passenger side, almost like rapid fire very noticeable at low speed but also does it at high speed. Sounds like my springs, i'm pretty sure i did everything right, grease the upper mount, line it up with arrows. And also my rear is lower than my front which is odd because the front are suppose to be lower than the rear. Front has two fingers and rear has no gap. Other than that handles great on curves big improvement. Can anybody help me out with info on the clunking noise?
Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Sounds like the top strut mounts to me to. Have you tightened it down good. And it could also be from not sitting the coil in the strut good.
Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Yea i torque everything to factory specs, but i did add a camber kit also. No i did not put the springs in reverse but i did put the rear springs in upside down ( the lettering is upside down). Think i'm just gonna redo that side again maybe it will fix it but thanks for the help guys.
Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
When you change anything in the suspension it puts more stress on the parts you didn't change. Therefore it could be anywhere in your suspension.
Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Did some more testing today and it just makes it going straight not on turns. Pretty noticeable at around 20-30 mph, when i engage the clutch from 2nd to 3rd. If i take off fast no noise but if i cruise slowly it it starts popping.
Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
Haha yes finally got my problems fix. I redid my back springs adjusted the perch level on my koni shocks to top position and ride is one finger gap all around. Also redid my front right springs and strut, torque everything down to spec and only difference i did this time was grease my upper mount with white lithium grease and no more clunking noise. Sweet finally done it was a bitch in my hot *** garage about a 100 degrees but save myself money in the long run.

Re: Just did my suspension, front right clunking noise?
I didnt have this same problem, but i did have a popping noise after i changed my springs. mostly only when turning though. after a little playing around i found out it was the metal plate that snaps onto the top of the spring. its got an angle and you have to fit it up right with the angle where it contacts the car.
