airbag light is on and will not go off
airbag light is on and will not go off
My airbag light came on my 03 honda civic si and has stayed on. Took it to Honda dealership and they said the airbag system needs replaced and part alone is over $900. This is outrageous, does anyone know if it is possible I do not have to replace the entire unit? I cannot afford over a $1000 to fix this
Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
Your light most likely came on because of a loose connection in your SRS/airbag system. Is your car an American SI or Canadian SI? There is a way to reset your srs light your self using a paperclip:

Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
What was the diagnostic code ?? It should be on you paperwork from the dealer. A 7-2 and some others would be "SRS Control Unit" related.
My 05 had a module failure.

Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
My code says 07-2, internal failure of SRS unit. I guess this is not good. I may have to drive with no airbags.

Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
Mine came on around 50k miles, It was a battle with Honda to end up with a 50%/50% at "Honda's" rate. Still cost me $500 with diagnostic. (they had replaced those crappy front struts twice) and thought they were doing me a favor at 50/50 for the SRS module.
You could try contacting Honda customer service if you remain calm and explain the problem they may help you with the repair (50%-100% coverage) You already have the diagnostic from Honda.
This has happened to a fair amount of 7th gens IMO. I would like to see a recall and get some of my $ back if possible.

Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
Most likely every year and model has a different module part #. (coupe/sedan, Side SRS etc...)
You will also never find a schematic other than the modules pin-outs to the car. This is not really a module to tamper with IMO.

Re: airbag light is on and will not go off
I've seen a video on how to obtain the codes yourself with just a paper clip (and I'm NOT referring to the video on how to reset the srs light) ...
http://www.vehix411.com/tag/abs-code/
But my question is, where/how do I look up this code myself to see what the problem is? Is there an online documentation or something?
Thanks.
