so im driving to work this morning and i was going around a bend in the road in 3rd gear. as i went to go faster my rpm's hit 4k. and then it stopped like i was at the rev limiter. it has never done that before and i have nothing to cause it to do that. but every gear does it, it wont go past 4k.

what the hell is cause my car to do this??

sounds like u might be running in closed-loop mode....have you heard any pinging or anything in your engine recently? and is it still doing it?

try resetting the ecu by disconnecting the batt for a few minutes(last resort)

Yes I did mean check engine light. You should take your car and have it scanned with an OBDII scanner. That will tell you where to start looking. It's much easier this way then trying to troubleshoot when you have no idea where to look.

lol yea check engine light won't let you rev that hi due to something wrong. get that light fixed.

well the things is is that it has been on for a long *** time, but i have no problem reving high...as a matter of fact when i merged onto the parkway going to work i red lined and the whole way up to work about 45mins it was fine until i hit the turn and went to speed up out of it...

well there might be a different code stored. the light doesn't tell you about multiple codes.

o, well where could i have my car checked out at...i heard auto zone does a free test for you. do you know if that is true?

i hope its nothing bad, i cant afford anything big at this time...

WELL listen to this....i was going on my lunch break and was going to disconnect my battery so it could reset, but before that i wanted to see if it went away before i did that.

so i started my car let it warm up for 2 mins, took it around the building and its fine..it revs all the way to redline to no problem...wtf is going on here..this car drives me crazy.

so on that note im thinking of installing my new exhuast this weekend..i got the Apexi turbo muffler, im going to go get custom piping installed, plus check out some new headlight bulbs.

ya it sounds like its cause of the header, you should get an o2 simulator so you can get rid of the CEL. I would at least start there. Also did you disconnect the battery before taking it to get scanned or did the car go out of limp mode automaticly?

the cat below efficiancy one means that your cat isnt working correctly on an unmodded car. since you dont have a cat anymore that code came up also.
