alarm dilemma

ok here's the thing, i want the best alarm, i wanted the viper 791xv but don't like the blue remote, so decided to get the 771xv. the dealer wanted 525 for it installed includes the bypass/trunk pop. then i saw the python 881xp which is juz like the 791xv except with a black remote. the dealer wants 700 installed for that. then i saw the python on ebay for like 245 and found out it's like 225 for the install. then there's also another dealer that quoted me 399 for the 771xv installed but dunno how good they are. i already put on the accord trunk pop thing on my vic. what should i do?

I'm sure you can find better deals. I got a compustar 2w900fmas installed for 425 here in Canada, which is like 350 USD. This also came with a second piezo(sp) interior siren and leather case for the remote.

Just keep looking around until your sure you've got the best deal

mine cracked within a few months after i got it, but no scratches yet

on a side note, what kind of a reason is not liking the remote color to not get a certain alarm?

I was thinking the same thing. What a f'd up way of choosing the alarm. It's funny too but you are litterally like "I was definintely going to get this one until I realized the remote is blue! Blue! who does that? . . . "

Could you paint the remote?

Remote color was a secondary consideration in my decision for my alarm. I did take it into account.

And here is a picture of my remote and what happens when you decide to put it in your front pocket and lie on your stomache on a hard floor.

If you want to get a new one I believe you can just buy the case and replace that and keep the "guts" of it.

I called compustar and they said I should contact my local vendor for a new one. It sounded like I had to buy a new one. Not just the lcd.

Its not bad because its still got audio signals telling me the status of the sensors.

The remote is only like $100 or so. It still works. Just the display doesn't work. Like I said it has audiables as well is visuals to tell you whats being displayed.

You can also get 2way non LCD remotes for compustars which are cheaper.

That's been pretty common here from what I've seen. It happens all by itself and is usually replaced under warranty. Check with who you bought it from.
