According to my Honda dealer mechanic, this is normal. It has to do with the reverse gear only having a single synchro while all forward gears have triple synchro. If the single synchro doe not match exactly, it becomes difficult to engage into reverse gear.

You can make it a bit easier by shifting into reverse. While still pulling into reverse, slowly lift the clutch a bit (not enough to enage the flywheel). The shifter should click into reverse much easier.

Yup, I hate it, too. I usually put it in first, then down to reverse. That does the trick sometimes.

^^what most of them said, its pretty normal.. either stick it in first, then reverse, or, if it's still being a bitch, lift up the clutch a little while pulling into reverse...

just remembered a talk I had with a honda mechanic.. he mentioned that the reverse gear was located farther right than other car makes and that it's harder to shift into and stiffer.
