98 civic auto trany shifter issue

I have a 98 ex 2 door w/126,000 on it. Ive noticed in the last month the shifter is getting hung up from park to drive ( getting hung when it hits reverse) Also from drive to park, again it gets hung somewhat in reverse. The tranny runs fine. Is this maybe a lubrication issue or a linkage/cable issue? Thanks

wrong model, not a helpful DIY, rather a question - moved to correct section for the sake of order

Most likely.

Put the front end of car up on stands, while under car follow the shift cable from underneath the (interior) shifter to the transmission. Remove linkage housing and lube. Likelyhood that you'll need a new one but, try lubing first with Napa Syl-Glide synthetic grease (won't damage rubber boot).
