weird sub sound
whenever my 12" dvc kicker hit it almost sounds like theres a paper behind it hitting the cone when it moves, the guy at the audio place said it was distorting, but i have no idea what it is, any ideas?
My friends sub did that today - it made me really annoyed - not sure if he noticed or not - I didn't say anything. It just ruined the music. I'm not sure what it is though - I'm no expert - turn the gains down and see what happens

it sounds fine in the car but when i pop the trunk is where it goes to crap, it's really weird, the guy at the car audio place messed around with my amp and it stopped doing it, but the sub was a lot quieter, so it wasn't hitting as hard, it's just really weird

check the size of the box i had the same problem but my box was 1.05 cubic feet and the sub needed only .88 cubic feet so i put some poly-fil in there and it was all better but it was the voice coil starting to go on mine

this is a brand new sub, i think i found out the problem though, it's max is 800 watts and i'm only puttin 500 to it, so i think it's under powered, but my friend is givin me some blaupunkt 500w amps (2 of em) i was wondering if there's some way to combine the power, i was think of hookin one to each voice coil, but i looked around and found out that it was a biiiig no no

He probably turned your gain down.
My system had a problem like that not too long ago, subs sounded fine in the car, but heinous when you were standing behind the car with the trunk open.
I adjust the level on my line driver and gain on my amp, and all I had after that was a bit of tinsel lead slap on one of my subs. Once I took care of that, they sounded like brand new.

i think it's just the fact that i have a crappy amp, a crunch p125.2, wired into 2 ohms, which is supposed to be 500w and the sub's max is 800, i was thinkin of pickin up a 1000 watt amp, i heard over poering a little is good, have i heard right?

like 1 amp per voice coil on a DVC sub? of course you can
my buddies Civic has 1 amp per coil on triple voice coil subs and it works like a charm (world record holder).
But I don't know if I'd recommend hooking up 2 different amps to the same sub, just doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but I have no other reason to explain why

i went out and picked up a bazooka csa300.1 and i'm gonna build a custom plexiglass box in my trunk, that should make it sound pretty good, the amp helped a LOT
