Hi everyone, I just picked up a 2002 Civic Ex 2dr Coupe totally stock, totally clean, 57K miles, for $8500 (was this even a good deal?).
The reason I am posting is, I'm about to invest in a new head unit, replacing all four speakers, 2 amps and 1 sub. This will total about $2100, but besides the head unit, it will appear totally stock (sub will be in trunk and speakers will be understock panels).
This car does not have a factory alarm with the keyless entry. What kind of alarm should I get for this? I could get the OEM, or normal aftermarket alarm with ignition kill. I live in a fairly good area but you never know.
I am thinking a standard alarm with hood lock should be fine, maybe auto start?, but I want your input on how to not get my stuff jacked
Please advise asap, I am not trying to be flashy I just want something nice sounding, my car looks totally stock.
If you could please be specific on your recomendation of alarm models and devices. thanks

alarm is all in the install...get whatever alarm u want, get shock sensors, tilt sensors, hood/trunk sensor, hood locks, window break sensor, backup battery or "smart siren" and/or pager system (viper 791vx, matrix 3.5RS etc)
if i were you, i'd spend alot of money on installing an alarm, then worry about system...else you'll end up like me or other members on the forum, get our **** jacked...hondaluver lost his indash DVD system, and that **** ain't cheap.
i lost $2000 worth of alpine equipment, including the stupid *** hidden alpine 7998 headunit (hidden my ***, thieves know exactly what it is, and will not hesitate to take it.
oh, just cause ur car looks stock, except the headunit, they will assume u have other ****, and will try to break into your trunk regardless. Tint or no tint, they don't give a f*ck, if they by chance hear you blasting ur music anytime anywhere, and they want it, they'll target you...like they targeted me... (my windows fog at night, it gets covered by dew, and it is impossible to see what's inside...trust me, i've checked personally...i even checked my car the night it got broken into, just woke up the next day and everything was gone, broke the rear quarter glass, that's why u need glass break sensor)
i'm assuming u dunno how to install alarms, so pay up to get it installed at a trustworthy shop, get it done right the first time.

Ditto, on the alarm. I put in the matrix 3.5 with all the trim including tilt sensor. It sounds like you have a plan with your stereo system and are looking for some reassurance with your purchase. Looks like high mileage but it's a Honda and Damn! only $8500!!! for an EX!! I just bould my EX (4 door) a moonth ago (2002) with 11k for under 13K. If you need help with your stereo give me a PM and I help you out.
just remember a car alarm is just a deterrent...it won't insure you won't get anything jacked...if someone wants to get something out of your car bad enough, believe me they'll find a way, with or without an alarm...just make sure on the install of all your stuff, stereo and alarm.
hm, u got that at $8500..
i got 02 civic 2dr cp, 25K for $11,700
hows that?
for speakers, how about Infinity Kappa? i heard that they're the best in clarity...
alarm.........want, wish u luck....whatever kind of alarms that u wanna install...if the thieves wanna get ur car...they'll get it..... *sigh*
