What if you cannot get your bolt threaded?

2002 Honda Civic Ex. Trying to screw in the final 17 mm bolt but it appears their is a gab between the new engine mount and the chassis. What do you suggest I do when I, a complete novice, cannot for the life of me get the bolt in place. It is not stripped. I have tried using leverage to move the engine mount into a position where it should be able to thread but this was to no avail. The bolt would be the top left one when looking down on the engine. I tried loosening all the bolts in an effort to get this one in place first but that did not work.

Re: What if you cannot get your bolt threaded?

which engine mount are you talking about?

use a jack under the engine to move it into place?

did you support the engine underneath before you removed the mount?

long pry bars in proper places work wonders

Get all fasteners started before tightening any of them.
If they won't all start threading in, figure out what's wrong.

Re: What if you cannot get your bolt threaded?

I determined in has to do with the bolt but I am not sure that the threads are damaged. I know this because I went through the trouble of removing all the other bolts and took the new motor mount back off to try and thread the bolt and it does not want to go in.
I thought I was using the wrong bolt for a moment (even though their are only two sizes for the part) but it turns out I was using the right one. It just appears to be spinning outside the hole.
The location is way to small to tap and die as someone tried to suggest on another forum. I suppose I will be taking it to a mechanic to screw one bolt in for me. I should be able to drive it carefully because I have 3/4 attached.

As far as the pry bar goes I tried it . I can get the hole lined up and close enough to thread but the darn bolt just spins outside the hole and does not grab on.

Sharpen the bolt a little like a pencil with a grinder. I am successful this way when I face the same problem.

Sharpen the bolt a little like a pencil with a grinder.
Spin a nut down the bolt before you grind on the threaded area, that way when you spin the nut off it will try to clean up the threads you boogered up with the grinder.
