The specs:

I seem to think that any of these would sound pretty good. Hopefully there is some good feedback here.

The JL 250/1 or Alpine M300 would probably be sufficient. I think a 500/1 or M500 is overkill....

its a toss up between teh m500 and 500/1

i like your reasoning...see...i was leaning more towards the JL...cuz i can get it for about 350...but the alpine would cost me about 280...but everyone at work says i might as well just go for the JL.

I still don't think you need a 500 watt amp for one of those subs, but whatever you like

I prefer the JL amps, but either would do you just fine. Both have similar features.

I think that they would all be pretty equal for that sub, especially if it is overkill. I would look into the features and price and go from there.

I would go for the MTX or the Alpine.

Since the sub is DVC you can connect the coils in parallel to get 2ohm load. The MTX it 800Watts @ 2ohms. That should hit nicely.

You can always run it at 8ohms,
IMO just buy another sub and bridge it

but if he buys another sub, then he can only be at 16 ohms, 4 ohms, or 1 ohm, then the mtx becomes useless because at 4 ohms it only provides 400 watts, which is only 200 per driver, and at 16 ohms, 100 watts, or 50 per driver, if the amp can even handle a 16 ohm load. and at 1 ohm the mtx will be then renamed as dead mtx.

man the "onion" is killing them out there...

i said alpine:
1) it's a nice amp power wise
2) it's not ugly looking, kinda sharp IMO
3) has a pretty small footprint
4) show wise, it's matching equipment

I would go for the Alpine MDR-500 only if your sub could be run at 2 ohms. If not, you are going to be only running 250 rms. I got the Alpine and it is very nice, especially if you get the RUX-4280 Remote control. The remote allows you to control all the amplifier’s setting right from the driver’s seat.
