Rep Power: 306 oh speedfoos...where are you? updates on my car..
got some new toys for the car i thought id share with everyone..(forgive, some of these pics are cell phone, others are not.)
step one of my upgrades is a fresh vtec head with crower springs and retainers..
followed by a stage 2 turbo crower cam, dual 10" slim fans, wads of gaskets from honda, exedy stage 1 clutch and light weight 1 piece flywheel, ARP head studs and a new set of iridium IK20's.. just need to get the hondata K pro and a new blower...
just to show what 180whp does to a front motor mount...so, this should get interesting.
but the best part is the part i get to enjoy right now..
fresh eyeballs
Audi A6 bixenon retro completed today, home made plug and play wiring harness and all. Even though they are completely out of alignment right now, all i have to say is... insane. it's like daylight.
i dont know what happened there..
some pics of the car before the retro..
that has been repaired..looks like new again.
let me know what you guys think. old headlights are for sale BTW, check the sale forum.

Dude WTF?!??! That's funny. Can't say I've ever been called out before! I sleep in on weekends, pattern is typically 0200-0900.
All you f%$kers that can use UPS ground to get lip kits and big parts <shakes fist>. Make me nuts. I have to wait 1.5 weeks for a damn gasket and some AN fittings. Nice bunch of parts though. I love the 04 tails, that's my next vanity purchase. Here come my questions, since we seem to be in some kind competition...
Is that new head ported? What's your plans for the motor mounts - stiffy and inserts? After seeing that mess, I'll be ordering a set of inserts today, already have a stiffy. And I also have an Ingall's torque dampener...
Folks have been telling me that the Exedy setup (I have the same one), starts to fade a bit with a car running in the high 200s, we'll see.
Where did you get your fans and why not go with 12s? If you got the fans from siliconeintakes.com, let me know as there are a couple things you have to do to make sure they don't chew through your rad. My Koyo rad arrived Friday.....but of course the radiator cap will be here next week.
Which injectors are you running? SRT-4s?
Good stuff Edwin. My last batch of fittings and the right size fuel line (now -6 AN, had 3/8") is on the way.

it's all in good fun. my head isn't ported, just milled and cleaned. stock everything else. i ended up going with the ES inserts for the new motor mount, i wont bother with a stiffy, the inserts do the job really well. The clutch and fan choice was done because i know it works. when we did boilermakers swap, he chose the exedy clutch, driving it around i liked it better than centerforce and ACT because it feels exactly like stock. I got 10" fans because they fit the radiator a little better. 12's are pretty big. i actually got them from vsracing.net for like $75 or something like that. and as far as my fuel system, im most likely going to use some RC's to go along with my return setup. right now i need to pull the turbo because my dezod manifold freaking cracked and the exhaust leak is NASTY...

Here are the 12 inchers installed on my Koyo, just put them on last night and they fit just right. That sucks about the mani cracking. Is it the EL he had a while back before they re-did the design? Did it crack at a weld? Yeah, I've been very happy with that Exedy setup so far. Worst part was the break-in. Couldn't go above 4500 for 500 miles, worst two weeks of my life...

yea, the 12ers fit the koyo, but im running stock.. the manifold is the V2 i believe, it's been the biggest challenge with the car. getting it in or out of the car is a fight, when i first got it i had to customize the thermostat housing on the cylinder head to route the upper radiator hose as far away from one of the manifold runners as i could because it would melt the hose, which is bad.. sometimes i wish i wouldve just gone with a log and called it good. you have the exedy flywheel too? i dont mind breaking it in. if you treat a new clutch nice for a few hundred miles, it returns the favor tenfold.

The fans were OK on the stocker too, but I cinched them down too tight and they chewed through the fins. I ended up JB welding the little brackets in place and also JB welding some washers to the mount side of them to space it off the radiator a touch. Don't want to have a repeat performance. Those look like the same ones I have so you might want to check the clearance between the blades and the fins.
Yeah, I've got the Exedy FW too, its been fantastic. Such a difference between that one and the stock anchor.

Both the 10 and 12 inch fans fit fine on a stock or a Koyo radiator. The radiators are the same size - length and height-wise - so either one will work. I had those fans on my stock radiator, but ham-fisted the install so now I have a Koyo.

Funny enough, I'm working the system to get back to Maryland (unless I can grease another assignment in Germany). Right around the corner from Phillip and Edwin. I would have met up with Edwin this past week, but I jacked my knee up and had to cancel my trip. I move back next year, right around the end of summer to keep on sked with the school year for my daughter.
Hey Edwin, you find that leak in your mani yet?

same luck with justin, it seems like everytime boilermaker brings me his car, something else is ****ed up. slowly but surely we're getting brand new cars simply because we're rebuilding them piece by piece. the first time we tried to do his alignment, a tie rod was frozen. fine, easy, right? wrong, honda wants you to pull out the whole steering rack from the car to get the inner tie rod off the rack. my response to that was HA, a torch, a wrench and an air hammer later..we got it on. try doing the alignment again, rear toe isnt working. come time find out, the cam bolts are seized and stripping inside the trailing arm bushing...
IF IT'S NOT ONE THING, IT'S ANOTHER. GOTTA LOVE IT..

Why the **** did I think his name was Phillip, LOL! Yeah my ends were mired pretty tight when I first did my alignment, luckily I go them loose and didn't have to cut them off. How the hell did you blow your turbo? Not running a restrictor? I felt the same way when my stock radiator went. Oh no. I HAVE to get a new radiator. May as well be the shiny Koyo. Which snail are you going with now?

the turbo was old, and the car is running rich for safety purposes right now. one really bad back fire and a fireball out the tail pipe later...bye bye T3. im going with the same turbo, t3 super 60. it's too good and cheap to be replaced.

man it is incredible, the amount of work and patience and CRAP involved in going turbo. for some reasons its funny when u read all those import magazines and u see these shiny turbo'd cars and they speak nothing of the install like if it was just put on by a wrench, polished, and fired up. its crazy..i have much respect to anybody trying to take on a turbo project ecspecially on a d17. the gains dont even matter to me..i cant even put down someone who doesnt get alot of gains on a boosted d17. its the fact that u would actually take on something liek that and still not give up after, like you said, one thing after another... much respect to you guys +1 for everyone ive seen go the boost route. good luck im always watching this stuff

Nice site, definitely will peg the bling gauge.
Did you get your FPR from them as well? Seems like a decent price. I wonder if they ship to APO addresses...
