RDX injectors installed. mini write up and pics inside.
RDX injectors are the ****. I got mine from a local acura dealer yesterday and got my plugs in today. total install time for me was 20 minutes, but i do this for a living, anyone else, id say could do this in about 45.
the scoop:
After someone posted here about the RDX injectors, I was really interested in using them. they are rated at 410cc's and are supposedely the best injector honda has ever made, or something of that caliber. you can read all about the details at http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/force...injectors.html
you'll find some links to a thread on K20a.org and an article talking about the RDX injectors. Some people have reported gaining power soley by using these injectors due to their better atomization ability. to compare..

These are very small for 410's. After doing some research, it was clear that this wasnt going to be a plug and play option, some people had to shave down the injector plug to get the stock plugs to work, but eventually someone discovered that some Toyota injectors use the same plug. Since honda doesnt sell these plugs individually like toyota, youll be forced to get the plugs from a toyota dealer, unless someone can get them elsewhere.

shaved plug FTL, you will NOT need to do this. if you do, youll need to modify the connector too.

there are the part numbers and name for those of you that are interested.
the swap of the injectors themselves is straight forward. remove the fuel rail bolts, pull old injectors out. disconnecting the fuel line isnt necessary. install the new injectors, the stock retaining clips work. then reassemble the rail as before. you will still need spacers, but ive been running with longer bolts just fine. The tricky part is the plug swap. the stock connectors have a blue insert on the injector side, use a small screw driver to remove it. this will expose the retaining clips on the inside of the plug.

using a pin, poke the retaining clips away from the wire terminals and slide the terminals out. youre left with this:

now, someone said in the k20a.org thread that youll have to shave the terminals down to get them to clip in place.

i was feeling lazy. i had a dremel but no extension cord, so i tried my luck.

to reference this pic again, youll see the that the back of the plug has little grooves in it. if you insert the terminals in back wards, the terminal will clip in and stay in, but it wont bottom out in the plug. however, it's still in far enough to make contact.

once you install the insert, it aligns the terminals perfectly

plug everything back in, youll love how much easier the new plugs are to unplug.

forgive the cell phone pics. anyways, my car fired right up the first time, and im loving them. Installing these injectors was one of the easiest and most pleasant upgrades ive ever done.
retail on these is about $50 per injector, though my local dealer wanted $63. but im a mechanic, i never pay retail. I was able to get them at $37 each, same day. The freaking injector plugs at toyota on the other hand, were horridly over priced at $8 each retail, I paid $5. so with tax i spent around $160ish for everything. I also like dealing with local dealers because eventhough you find good prices online, you dont pay shipping and handling at the dealer and you get stuff much sooner. anyways, the RDX theory is confirmed.

Those look like they also might take an SRT-4 clip Edwin. Pins look spaced about the same and it's got the clip on the side as well. Might just work. Good stuff either way!

Awesome diy, thats impressive, glad to know there is another injector option that is more efficient, arent the new RDX's turbo from the facotry?

acuraoemparts.com has these for 37.94 a piece. total is 151 and some change....plus shipping. and like speedfoos said... i think a SRT clip would work in there. its funny... i just happen to still have my SRT pigtails soldered in my car... so i can switch back no problem.

Re: RDX injectors installed. mini write up and pics inside.
thanks. i didnt want to have two different plugs on the car at the same time, not that there is anything wrong with it, i just knew that i wanted a permanent setup and this worked out just the way i wanted it to. wholesale dealer prices normally arent any lower than online, but like i said, the benefits include getting stuff sooner, without paying shipping and handling fees.
Re: RDX injectors installed. mini write up and pics inside.
I know this is a total noob question, but I am planing on doing the RDX injector swap on my d17a2... I know you need longer studs and spacers, but what my question is... is... how much longer are the studs I don't feel like going out and buying a bunch that don't fit.
Thank you in advance,
