Upgrade Suspension? What is your Fav?
I Currently have Nuespeed Race springs with 18 in racing hart c5's. I love the look. Nice and low and the rear tire is tucked a little. However the ride sucks. It is very ruff over bumps and bouncy at high speeds.
?is, What stut/shock should I upgrade to and keep the Nuespeed Race springs with an improved ride. Or should I just replace the whole thing.
Would prefer not to spend too much cash but if it would improve things dramatically I could spend some cash. Basically, I want a slammed ride that drives like stock.
Thanks for the advice

since you dont wanna spend too much cash. koni yellow shocks would be nice with neuspeed race springs.
tein basic/ss wont go low as race springs. however b&g fullcoilovers will.

Rough is caused by the springs (Neuspeed Race have a high spring rate) bouncy is cause by to weak of shocks.
So Pick up some Konis. that should take care of the bounce, but for ride harshness, you'd have to get softer springs.
On second thought, a lot of the roughness could be caused by your 18's

i dont think the bang is bottoming out. it could be, but i get the bang too. its just the nature of the civic, when u hit a pothole, it sound slike the ****ing car is gunna fall apart. it isnt as loud with stock tires on, but with some low pros it sucks, and lowering it makes it sound even worse.
just try to avoid potholes, although i live in pa and it is damn near impossible to miss them all, i cant even imagine what nyc is like!

the bang is probably because you have shitty shocks or they blew.... i used to have ground controls for my civic ... and when i went over a pothole it was VERY VERY LOUD!!!! i had 19's on too... but when i changed to KW however... the bang went away.... i purposly went over the same pothole after i installed my KW's.... mind you that i still had my 19's on... what i suggest is that you save your money and buy the whole shabang... shock/strut combo.... i've heard ppl still having problems with the koni yellows and sleeved coils...

i have gc/koni setup and i'd say the ride is ok and i'm content with my setup...
however, if i were to do it again, i'd go with the full coilover setup from the beginning

I've been looking into several coilover kits for my ride. Right now I'm favoring the Teins, based on reviews, price, etc... Now I'm wondering if I should go with the basic kit, the SS or the Flex kit. I know the SS and Flex kits offer adjustment to the damping rate, while the basic kit doesn't. Is this a major issue?
Also, how much of a drop can you get with tein coilovers? I'm looking for about 1.5 to 2.0 inches. jdmb16ahatch, did you have an alignment kit installed as well. I'd like to keep my camber in check - don't want that silly el-cheapo cut-the-springs look. Nor do I want to replace my tires every 5000 miles...
Any info would be greatly appreceiated!

the flex gives you higher springs rates (if you get the EP3), a pillowball upper mount, and front camber adjustment.
That bang is your shocks bottoming out. I had H&R race with illuminas cause I was on a bit of a budget and loved the combo it rode good and the shocks never did blow and are still in use to this day with no signs of being blown.
ive got my ride on progress springs. rode suprisingly well with my stock shocks until they blew. i love my springs ... ive only come across a few posts who mention having progress springs. i just ordered sum tokico hp's. cant wait.

I've got the Neuspeed Race springs like you and have it on Tokico's as well. Of course they don't perform to the max like the Koni's would but they are 1304703947092375X better than stock. The drop is still low and looks damn good, rides damn good too.
