No Passenger Seat Illegal??

I've removed the passenger seat yesterday just to see what it would feel like. Weirdly enough, i like it! Minus the SRS and seatbelt wiring harness coming out of the floor and the SRS light on my dash. No one ever rides in my car with me, so i'm figuring i'll keep the seat out. Its like 30-40lbs, even more out of my car. So my question is, does anyone know if it's illegal to drive w/o a passenger seat. Thanx

In good old NY,it is illegal if you are carrying any "cargo". They made the law to stop people from using passenger cars as delivery cars!

i think it may be illegal in california. i remember my traffic school instructor mentioned if your car came equipped with 2 seats, then the car must have 2 seats. if your coupe came equipped with 2 front seats and 2 rear seats, then it must have them on.

maybe this rule only refers to carpool since thats what the class was discussing.

i'm REALLY enjoying the weight reduction advantages, but that's not why i did it...i'm swapping out the rear 60/40 seat for a pair of buckets and 'glassing a "console" from the rear deck to the front H.U. area...kinda like the seating setup in the new RX-8s...
