If I buy a bolt on and put it on, how do I know if my car is now putting out excessive fumes? It's a ULEV, so if I put in aftermarket headers, that wouldn't affect my emissions that much would it? I live in connecticut by the way.

i dont plan on taking my stock catalyctic converter out, so i should be fine right? the heat shield will be over the header, so i dont think the people down in emissions test will be removing stuff to check.

cat = catalytic converter
and if you replace the header in an lx/dx without getting a new cat, then yes....you will be removing the cat.
Its integrated into the header in the lx/dx.
If you want one that is 50 state legal, i think DC Sports is the only one who makes one.

basically, you cant pass emissions inspection without the catalytic converter on in the tri state area, NY-NJ-CT. Unless you know someone that is well.... you know..... The only other solution is to relocate the cat converter after the aftermarket header.

DC sport has a nice header for our cars. i have an ex. and its sexy ...if you dont have it installed right. you'll hear an exhaust leak. very noticable. and you'll smell fumes (sp?) the header itself will give of some smoke at first but thats just the header heating up and burning off exces crap...it go's away in about 3 hours of driving

the only thing about DC is that the header they make for 7thgen civics is the same (or close to the same size) as stock.
They do however, look nicer than stock. However, they don't give that much of a performance gain.

DC Sports doesn't have one for sale on their website, but the Kamikaze one sounds decent, but expensive
HCH15007-BC Honda Civic DX,LX 01-02 13/4" $273.99
So there is no DX aftermarket header that comes with a cat?
Thanks for all the quick replies

well, the Lx/dx has the cat in the "header".... there arent any aftermarket headers that come with a cat.... it's about where it's placed. In the case of the EX, the cat remains around the same area.

I'm making my car into a show car, so the sound will be nice. Or should I just get a cat-back exhaust? Sorry if this is off-topic, but which do you guys prefer, for a sedan.

mm... axle back........ well, it bolts on to your stock piping from around the rear axle and back. There are a few, I think Magnaflow and HKS are most common.

if anything, almost EVERY thread on this forum is about modding his/your/our car and the different products available. So for him to make his own thread and ask the same repeated questions is pointless. Are we trying to hand every member all the information they want on a silver platter? I'm not. At least not when all the information he needs is just a click or two away.
And if you were trying to start ****, did you not notice this thread is like a week old. Sorry, but i don't pay attention to old threads that are ALREADY worthless.
kthnxbye.

My only goal in this thread was to get you to realize that some of these people(myself included) don't fully know how to use this site so you should cut them a little slack. Now explain why I would want to start something with someone over the net even if they are in the next county. No need to get so worked up about it."I'm done with this thread and with you. "
Ok you guys, quit it! There was one member on this forum who I wanted to get my hands on so I can ring his neck but its not worth it because not only I would kill him, I would end up going after his family too.
