confusing? hellz naw!!!
if it was confusing, I might get away with the mistaken identity
hehehehehe
ok, so I'm pissed with having to wait for the tein SS. I've looked around and a few people seem to think that the flex will come out for our cars within the next month or so.
I'd like to wait for it, but my struts are TERRIBLE right now. It hurts to ride in my car!
I'm wondering...do any of you guys know if the flex will fit our cars? apparently a few people have modified the hood to get it to fit, but I'm kinda iffy about screwing around with it all
anyways, if you guys know, or find out, lemme know...I'm interested!
the flex goes for $1614 at tornactive...which is about $2200....tempting
whereas the SS goes for $1480... (both in canadian funds).
hrm...what to do, what to do....

go with teins, cheaper and will probebly be a less of a wait, cause u dont know when or if they will actually realse any for our cars, and making some changes, i dunno about that, they might not be as good as ones that fit out cars.
just go with the teins

oh, sorry guys...the flex is from tein.
brand: Tein
Model: SS vs. Flex
Flex is the higher end, but they don't officially make them for our cars yet. they do for the hatch and RSX, but not ours. BUT, you can trim a peice of your hood, and they'll fit...you just can't use the electronic dampening force controller (EDFC), because of clearance issues
so...might call Tein tomorrow and see if those biotches will give me a release date on the flex for our cars.
hrm....
mmm...flex.
the other option is to lose patience (which I'm known to do) and order the SS from tornactive

and the flex is a higher model?? what is the different between the two? price difference??
i need to save up and invest in one of those because my stock units are gonna blow soon and i dont wanna hafta deal with that when it comes my way

The "basic" is the basic coilover. It just comes with struts and springs (but they're designed for one another, so it's better than, say koni + springs).
The SS comes with 16-way adjustable dampners.
The flex has the same 16-way adjustable dampners, but it also comes with the upper pillow ball mounts, STRUT HEIGHT ADJUSTABILITY(!) meaning you don't just compress the spring, you also can adjust the height of the dampner, so you don't bottom out easier.
Also, the flex has the EDFC available to it, which is the in-car adjustment to the dampening force. Meaning you don't have to get your lazy *** out of the car to adjust the stiffness of the struts.
flex is better, no doubt. It's also more expensive.
in USD: SS = 1097, Flex = 1614.
is it worth the extra $500 USD? possibly. but I really want the EDFC (which won't fit our cars)

well if half the reason why u want the flex is fore the in car adjustment, id say just get the ss. They are both adjustable right?? like the ride heigh and everything, but the flex has a damped adjustment. so with the flex u can adjust the rebound of hitting a bump is that it? im kinda new to the suspension world so help me out!!! i would love to get full coilovers cuz my lowering springs are eventally gonna cause problems.

both the flex and SS have dampening adjustments.
the flex actually lets you resize the whole strut! it's nuts!
I think i'm probably gonna settle for the SS system. I will be doing some weekend racing here and there, but other than that, I can't really justify the money.
unless I can get a deal from someone!
you guys watch the amazing race? did you see that CSI tonight? I want that guys camera!
hehehe jk

1983: i dunno the internet is always sketchy...especially something as important as rims. You dont wanna get screwed over on something like that. I would try and stay local if I were you, just because if something goes wrong you know were to go and who to talk to.
Player: what kind of amp is it? how many channels? Thats what i need right now is a new amp, cuz mine cant give out enough juice for my sub.

Wheelmax: They are trustworthy, but you're going to get seriously nailed with duty/brokerage. It will work out to more than the amount you can get them locally!
I researched it...wheelmax had the rims I wanted (Zeo bz12's), and nobody around here even knew who zeo was!!! ghey!
anywho, 1983: I'll think about it
hehehe
I might order one too...how much are they?
oh, and you're going to have to split the duty with me
(all of it! hehehee)
jk
duty is gonna kill me, but I'm down with it. it'll still be cheaper than buying it in TO thaks to the dollar doing so well!
PLAYER: I won't be making it. I have a wedding to go to! (It's Kurtis' wedding tomorrow!!!) So I don't think he'll be making it tonight.

I'll be at the airport hotel tonight as well....Gotta wash the car...
Not sure about import nites yet...
Got my RS grill yesterday...well ordered it anyway...the guy who took the order over the phone didn't leave the price for the other guy so when I went in I wound up paying $56 (their cost) with no tax or markup..LOL.

so guys...I've been pondering what to save my money for...
The next thing I have to buy is some little parts for the brakes, and the next big thing I'm gonna buy is seats.
BUT...I'm wondering what the long-term mods should be.
I looked into the SF turbo (checkout the group buy forum), and he wants $2900 for the turbo kit.
This will safely run 6-8lbs of boost (6lbs recommended), and gets you 165WHP.
So, with the current exchange rate, that works out to be $3915 CAD.
I'd be able to install it myself without any problems.
BUT, the RSX-R has 192WHP to begin with, so it proves to be a much better starting point for turbo's, etc.
I found a K20AR (DC5 Type R) engine for $2500USD, which works out to $3375 CAD. This is cheaper than the turbo kit, but I'd have to buy engine mounts, and get someone else to install it.
So, if we assume $2000 for random parts and labour, it's still around $5500.
That's only $1600 more than the turbo, AND it gives you more power.
I love the sound of a BOV, but I think I'll wait for the turbo, and put it on my K20AR
And for the skeptics: the K20AR comes with the tranny, the subframe, the ECU (I'd get a mugen computer though), axles (I'd have to get the SiR axles to keep it 4 bolt), and all the goodies to go bananas.
dayum. I need to win the lottery
$6000 isn't that much to save up, but I have to pay for school ($2500 for sept, I will HOPEFULLY be graduating in december), and there's always random expenses that come up (bday's, sex toys, etc).
so seriously, who wants to pay for my project?

Meet me here
Hey guys...I was thinking. The hotel people may not like us hanging out in their parking lot so how about this.....When you turn onto the road to go to hotel drive about 50 meters past it and look for my car...I know a spot on the side we can gather on that isn't a parking lot....
The type R engine is not a good base if you want to turbo. Get the base RSX/SIR motor if your gonna go with turbo. The type R gets a lot of its power because it is very high compression. If you were to turbo it you would probably have to bring the compression down. The base RSX/SIR (k20a2 i think) is a lot lower compression already, a lot cheaper, but it is a great engine to be turbo'ed. If you look on the forums at EPhatch.com there is probably some examples of the results you would get.
Just my $.02
edit: althought the LSD with the type R is pretty sweet.
