Depends on how bad it is, how hot it got, how much money you want to spend, what your goals are, your skills and abilities, and your tooling/equipment/space

Did I leave anything out?

Well a rolling chassis is worth about $500 here

Another 97 hatch would run you $1700, but may develop the same issues.

getting the head gasket replaced will cost you around $1200, nearly the same as buying one.

............ or you could try to replace it your self if you can.

-head decked $100
-head gasket $150
-arp head studs $80
-coolant $18
-Honda bond $15
-your time

I’d get a good used engine if you can. Search around. You can get these engines for a few hundred dollars, which is much less than the cost of rebuilding the engine. Plus, you’ll have a lot of extra parts from the old engine.
