I'm FINALLY close to having everything done and ready to for dyno tuning. All I need to do is try a little experimenting with the stock fuel pressure regulator to see if I can do a boost referencing setup while keeping it hidden in the tank (because I live in cali which sux cause I have to make EVERYTHING stock for smog every 2 years) which I will post results when I’m done. I’m hoping for power in the mid to high 200's
Dezod V3 kit
K-Pro
Weisco 8.8:1 comp Pistons
Crower FI Rods
OEM Honda Bearings
DeatschWerks 650cc injectors
Boost Referencing stock fuel system
Magnaflow 2.5" Cat
Tanabe Hyper Medailan
AEM Wideband
Dyno results: 235HP / 206TQ @ 13 PSI - Still not close to my goal. The exhaust was choking it and clutch started slipping when we unbolted it.
Update
Head Gasket - Replaced Overheating Fixed
Stage 4 Clutch - Installed
Custom 3" Turbo-Back Exhaust - Done

yup here ya go
Hankook R-S2's in 225/50/15
I took no pics of the building process because I diddnt feel like getting my camera all greasy. There will be a video of the dyno run and maybe a short one in the car too after the tune.

The BOV is a greddy RS which replaced the stock Tial one. The intake and recirculation tubes are custom.

ya honestly the car is quiet and about as close as you can get to a total sleeper. Im not even going to drop it just because I want people to be supprised when its fast.

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
you're going to want to cut the flange off the cat back and put in a new one. Tanabe rigged that thing for the stock cat, its got a 2" hole in the flange. The motor is NOT going to like getting corked like that. Cut it out, and weld in a new flange (and the 3" or so of expansion section in the exhaust pipe).... you're also going from 2.5 to 2.25 with the DP to exhaust.... trust me from my own dynoing, when you turn the boost up, its gonna clog it like a ****, but good luck

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
ya I have an appt tomorrow to get that taken care of. When I got the catback I was like WTF?! lol but I know the stock cat does have a smaller outlet. I may eventually go with a totally different exhaust all together. Maybe custom or something. Whatever it is, I want it quiet but this fits the bill for now.

this is a D17A1? i dont see a vtec solenoid or more obviously no vtec cover. im curious to see the torque numbers on this. looks good excited for the numbers man

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
So you're still running the returnless fuel setup? Is that because of the draconian Cali green laws? Looks good though! I want to enjoy the sound of my BOV for a while and then I'm sure I'll convert to the Greddy/recirc combo for sleeper-ness. Can't wait to see dyno results!
Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
wow that looks pretty good.. are u an automatic.. i couldnt tell if in the pic i saw the clutch reservoir and the master cylinder reservoir or if it was just the master cylinder reservoir thing (meaning its auto)

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
its a D17A1 w/ manual trans. Im keeping the returnless fuel system but I bought 2 extra stock fuel pumps w/ cages on ebay for like $30 each to see if I could mod the stock fpr for boost refrencing or maybe replace it with a different reg that can increase fuel pressure w/ boost.
I like the weather in cali but the smog laws SUCK!

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
Are you not going to break in the motor first? We never dyno the car after we build the motor. I usually just do a mild tune for driving in vacume so that you have 500 miles to break the motor and use conventional oil. After 500 mile add royal purple and let it rip dyno time

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
The engine has been in my car for about a month and ive already put about 400 easy miles on it using my other tune so it was a bit rich but still in the safe zone. I switched to M1 last weekend. So I should be fine. If anything happens to it im getting pretty good at pulling the engines out of these cars so its not to big of a deal.

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
Well results are in. I modded the stock regulator for a vacuum/boost refrence. and under 5 PSI of boost my pressure goes up to about 50 and at idle its maybe 32 PSI. So after I messed with kpro a bit ive found its even easier to tune. Here are some pics of my modification. Basically I took the idea from this site and applied it to our stock regulator. http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/fuelsystem.htm

Re: Built engine is done and ready to Dyno!
well one thing is funny, I know I need some good front brake pads now. I cant even make the car skid nomatter how hard I hit the brakes with the stock pads.

The way you did your fuel system is going to give you lean cuts when your low on fuel FYI....
