Rep Power: 0 i don't know all that much about turbos, so bare with me if these are stupid questions: what is an equal length header? what is so great about it over the other header? does the equal length header come with the base kit now? and what is that bung/opening/fitting on the top of the 2nd pipe for?

Rep Power: 288 The equal length header improves cylinder scavanging. So you will make more power, and the turbo will spool up faster. The flange on that runner is for an external wastegate. The external wastegate option doesnt cost any extra.
The equal length manifold is $100 more.

Rep Power: 0 ok, i see. so what are the advantages and disadvantages of an internal and an external wastegate if i had the base kit with the equal length header and the turbo upgrade (ar.60 int)? the base kit does come with an internal wastegate, right? oh, and am i able to purchase the base kit with just those two upgrades without having to purchase the water-air intercooler and 3" downpipe (by the way i have a 2002 ex, if that makes a difference)?

Rep Power: 0 may as well add these questions to the list while i'm thinking about it: does the kit for the ex still require modifying the exhaust? if so, could you explain exactly what needs to be done (i remember a picture you had on a different post, but didn't really understand what needed to be done). i understand that the kits are shipped with a setting of 5psi, but would it be possible to ship them set at 7psi (or am i able to do this myself without a boost controller)? do i need to purchase a boost controller, boost gauge, and turbo timer, or do i not need any of these? and finally, am i able to get the "SF" logo on the air-air intercooler in a different color (like black or red)?
i apologize if these questions are getting annoying, but like i said, i really don't know too much about forced induction systems. i just want to have as much info as possible before purchasing a kit.

Rep Power: 288 The air-water kit is an upgrade just like those. so you can get any combo of parts you want.
The external wastegates are easier to adjust and prevent boost creep (which i havnt really experianced with this kit/internal wastegate)
You dont have to do anything to make the kit fit an ex, we made the downpipe to fit the EX also.
The kit comes with a bleed valve, which allows you to adjust the boost setting. With the valve closed, it will make 5 psi. You just open it slowly to set the boost setting.
It is a good idea to get guages and a turbo timer, but they are not "required".
We have red available for the logo on the intercooler.
I am here to answer the questions, and i dont hold any bias towards anyone. If someone doesnt know what a piston is, i will still do my best to help them out.

Rep Power: 288 he will weld a flange onto the header for an external wastegate and take off the internal one. You still have to buy an external wastegate.

Rep Power: 0 I just came across this thread... I didnt realized the turbo was that much of a reality.... anyways.. I have done a lot of searching but still have a few questions... This looks like a great kit. I have an EX.. now since the o2 sensor is on the downpipe and under the car on the cat, how will this effect anything? Do I replace the whole downpipe/cat combo with a new downpipe, that bolts to the exhaust? Keep in mind the cat is welded to the downpipe on the EX. Or does the turbo just bolt on to the existing downpipe? Also if I get a new downpipe with the kit that replaces the cat, what takes care of the o2 sensors so the CEL doesn't come on? Sorry if these questions were answered, I just didn't get any straight forward info.... Hopefully you understand what I mean. Thanks.

Rep Power: 0 Also, i was lookin in my engine bay and was wondering if the intercooler pipes would work because I have the KMS manifold... Do you know that the KMS manifold won't get in the way of installing the piping? Mike said I would have my kit tomorrow by 1030am... I paid extra for next day delivery... I'll be installing this all by myself from 12-6 tomorrow. I know I probably won't finish it but then I have saturday from 8am-5pm and sunday from 12-5pm... I'll be able to do it, right?

Rep Power: 288 Maverick, Mike is at fedex as we speak shipping your kit.
IDQcivic, we do not touch the stock downpipe. you leave your entire exhaust system except for the manifold. Our downpipe hooks into the stock downpipe for easy installation. So you leave your midpipe/cat combo on the car.

Rep Power: 0 SWEET! because I ordered the random technology cat/downpipe... it should be here next week... so that would probably work better with the turbo than the stock cat since its a high flow cat... this turbo kit is so tempting.... damn credit cards! Anyways... I already have 50k on my car so I'm not sure if its worth it...
