03 bolt up swap

Hey jus recently got a 03 civic sport with d17a1 an blew up first weekend bow im either looking for another non vtec motor or something easy to drop in is there any other motor out there that will bolt up an plug in without changing much? To sawp to a 1.7 vtec what would i need an hard is that?

You won't benefit much from converting to vtec honestly. Just get another D17A1 from either a junkyard or buy a rebuilt one and your good to go. You can probably get a JDM one but I'm not sure if there is anything different that will make install more difficult.

The only worthwhile swap is the K20A2 or K20A1 (EXPENSIVE). Either way your looking into spending 4-8000 dollars as parts vary greatly. It's very expensive to put into this car as it's never a direct bolt on.

There are a handful of benefits of swapping in a d17a2, Tom.

1) slightly higher compression ratio, give that little tidbit of extra HP
2) VTAKK YO
3) and the thing that'll actually do anything, the ability to install crowee cams. Then again, that can be accomished simply with a head swap.
