Re: Quaife LSD Update
Well, I'm still breaking everything in. Having some minor issues I need to fix. I'm getting the most annoying rattle at 3k from the right rear (something with the disc conversion), the front right brake squeaks a little, the speedo is bouncing all over the place (prolly a bad vss from the new tranny since it sat for who knows how long) and I'm breaking in the clutch so I don't glaze it over. And I'm not exactly "tuned" for the injectors I'm running. All good things come in time

Re: Quaife LSD Update
Don't buy obx unless you want problems. Get the real thing and save yourself the headache. And I happened to be searching around and found them for around 900 on honda-tech, so you can pick them up for cheaper than 1200 now the price has come down some.
Re: Quaife LSD Update
Confirmed. The quaife made for the fit works with a d17 tranny using fit ring gear bolts.
I haven't gotten on it or anything but I ran for initial 15 minute break in with new motor and tranny and had no issues. It goes into gear and everything seems perfectly fine.
For those who've been waiting on me to see if it works, you now have your answer.

Re: Quaife LSD Update
You use the bearings that are already in the original transmission you just press them off the old diff and onto the new diff you can use the speedo gear off the d17 diff but it has to be pulled off with a bearing spiltter and then pressed onto the new diff It's not hard if you have the right tools or a machine shop I do recommend the honda fit speedo gear cause it gives a little more support around the bearing so that the center race does not flex that much.

Re: Quaife LSD Update
No it's removable I have pulled it off before it's pressed on from the factory and looks like it is cast on but its not. It's not too hard to pull off you just have to be careful about it cause it is a thin piece of metal. I used a bearing splitter to get underneath on the sides and pop it up a bit and then used a gear puller on it to pull it off. Grab a big nut (I think I used the rear lower control arm nut to chasis. or the nut off the front strut to the knuckle) and drop it into the hole were the axle goes so you have something for the gear puller to push off of. Or if you have a big enough slide hammer use that. I think I have like 3 of those speedometer gear rings laying around back home off the diff's.
