Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

You know... one day, when I'm 350lbs., driving a Hovervan, flying my kids to space-soccer, I'm going to look back on all the pain and suffering I voluntarily put myself through and get all teary-eyed. I'll then try and slap a turbo on my nuclear generator to get the extra few megatons of thrust out of it.

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

I'm not even boosted and I'm in pain. Bought an Intercooler with Inlet/Outlets on opposite sides, ya I'm not even gonna attempt that one.

Purchased a new one with inlet/outlets on the same side.

Bought RSXS Injectors and decided that 220WHP was the goal. Need to sell RSX injectors to buy SRT4's

No place to relocate my battery so I prey it all fits.

Jackass I bought the manifold from put a 90 degree bend on the wastegate tube. Now I have to reweld something that DOESN'T look like the letter "L".

Finally got all of my crap though...well almost all of it. lol

You guys know AEM supplies the cam gears to Hondata? I did not know that....

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

LOL - see, the problems start before you even get going on the build. I had heard that the k-pro cam gear was an AEM one. Get an Optima Rep Top and mount that ****er underneath your rear deck, in the trunk.

Still having my turbo drain leak. Gonna pull it off again tomorrow and slather a **** load of RTV on it. Piece of crap.

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

I have a red top and I considered that but I have a false floor in the trunk and sedan handles on my coupe. As of now, if the battery dies, climbing thorugh the trunk is my only option. Try doing that with a red top in your way. lol

However, I DO have 0 guage run all the way back there....

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

i got a yellow top and bolted a custom tray to the floor between the spare and the opening, then hacked the bottom out of a mr gasket battery box and voila!

i don't have the trunk carpet or that cardboard piece in there anymore though....

Put it right here. That's where mine was until I pulled the sub box and put it in the front middle of the trunk.

What was it mounted to though? That false floor isn't secured. It would have to mount to the side....somehow....

Plenty of body crap behind the side carpet that you could bolt up a bracket or two to secure it.

Ah... the joy of this thread returns. What about the fact the manifold isn't made of stainless? or is it? Because mine's not... and it's a rust-ball now.

My car won't stop leaking oil from a -AN compression fitting. At this rate I'll have a full new pan of oil every 8 days and the bottom of my car will NEVER rust.

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

I hear that, Clint. Mine keeps leaking from the return line. I can't find the time to get under the car and find out what size the hose is. It's not attached using the standard drain, someone had welded on their own fitting and used this hose - which is now leaking out of the -AN fitting. I put 1 qt. in per week and it only leaks while driving so I never knew about it until my valvetrain got REALLY loud one day and I pulled over to discover I had ZERO oil left.

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

Well I had welded a -10 AN bung to my new (Edwin's old) steel pan to put the return bung in a better spot. Something got dorked along the way and my -10 AN fitting leaked from my -10 AN bung. Made no damn sense at all. Should have been as simple as 1+1=5. Nope, no such luck. I'm taking care of it though. New fitting on my original pan, doesn't leak (I've used it before) and am just waiting on some hose to install it.

Re: T.E.A.R.S. - Turbocharged Engines Anonymous Relief and Support Thread

need some help and input here ..... i am completly new to 4cyl and boost !! always been a v8 mustang guy and after all my buddies have converted to srt4's and wrx's i decided to buy and 05 lx and decided im gonna build a turbo kit. ill start with what i got so far ... hks manifold, 2.5 custom dp, 29/7/2.5 intercooler with all piping, oil feed adapter, all my couplings and clamps , fpr,
boost and air/fuel gauges , and a dash pod. OBVIOUSLY i still need to order a turbo, my manifold is setup for t25/t28 internal wastegate. any recommendations on a good turbo without breakin the bank? i dont want a cheap turbo but dont need the most expensive either ( this car is a just for fun toy) ... im gonna set wastegate to 6psi for now, so my big ? is (since ive never boosted a car before ) with only pushing 6psi do i need to upgrade my injectors, pump and ecu? i dont wanna half *** anything cuz i dont wanna constanly be breakin **** but at the same time i dont wanna go with anything that i dont really need.... any feedback from you guys would be awesome , appears alot of u guys are a really knowledgable group , and i just wanna do my best to avoid some of these horror stories ive read on hear lol . but yea please any response would be great or pm me . thanks fellas

i just had a piece of alum piping welded to the pan where i had drilled the hole and ran a piece of rubber hose from turbo to pan no leaks and with a bit of alum heat wrap around the hose, it seems to be holding up pretty well that close to the DP

i think the answers to your questions can be found in the turbo faq but i am not "the guy" on turbo sizes and specs. knowing that your manifold is made for a t25/28 def sets your left and right limits though. i upgraded to the rsx injectors and i'm only pushing 5 psi on a t3 super 60 and there don't seem to be any signs of running out of fuel at that level, but i've also read and heard that really anything more than that and the srt-4 injectors (clips will be needed and harness will have to be modded to accept them) are a good upgrade. big question here though is what will you be using for fuel/air management? little more info and a little more research and i think you should be able to get all the answers you need. hope this helps.

and hurry and claim your T.E.A.R.S. number before we have to give Clint a second one

well that was one of my biggest ?'s , im having alot of trouble finding a piggy back system or anything close to cheap ( and decent quality ) to go with for my air/fuel managment , so far all i bought was a aem fpr, and some gauges. other than that no injectors, fuel pump or anything for modding ecu.... any recommendations on a cheap but effective way to go ? thanks for the feedback greatly appreciated

go ahead and assign that t.e.a.r.s # cuz i know ill be needing it later lol

Tony, you've been in too long....

Do a search for Justin's setup (boilermaker1), he's running a T25 snail on a built motor and has plenty of power to run around with. I just can't remember which turbo he's running off the top of my head.

Yes, you'll have to upgrade the injectors, and get a piggyback or full EMS, stock pump should be fine. Go with Tony's advice on the SRT-4 injectors (Ebay is your friend here) and your EMS isn't going to be exactly cheap. The AEM F/IC is about the best one going from a pricing and reliability standpoint (about $500). Sell the FPR unless you want to convert the fuel system to a return setup (not needed at 6 psi) and put it towards your EMS.

Well... I wasn't the person to weld the fitting on to the turbo I bought, so... gotta live with it. It's a piece of steel braided line with the fitting on one end (turbo) and hack-sawed off on the other (oil pan). That end goes over a barbed fitting JB'ed into my oil pan with a clamp holding it on tight.

The hack-sawed end is the one that's fine.
