Quick question about UEGO

Today I've recieved my AEM F/IC, AEM UEGo wideband and F/IC PnP wiring harness!

Thank you Dezod!

F/IC is on the car. PnP harness pluged in w/o any issues. Car strated as usual. I did some data logging to my laptop - whole bunch of numbers from different engine sources. Lets have a "good night" reading begin!

UEGO w/b sensor went in almost w/o issues, it was my fault of not properly identifying a plece for it on the down pipe. The sensor is a little to close to one of the compressor pipes.

The question is in regards of getting the sensor and gauge hooked up right.

There is a white wire that has to be connected to 0-5V source. I want to know where exactly it had be connected to.

I think it is all for now.

Thanks for the input

Re: Quick question about UEGO

the UEGO gauge? there are only 2 wires you need, black goes to ground, red to ignition. the white is a 0-5V signal output. DO NOT ATTEMPT to connect the white wire to voltage.

Re: Quick question about UEGO

the white wire is an output for the UEGO for a compatible standalone. If your aem unit has a w/b input, hook it up. if not, just tape it off and dont use it.

Re: Quick question about UEGO

for more info, go to the forum for aem, they have a mod who is usually on top of answering questions quickly, if needed any other info or questions, since this item so new and we're not to familiar with it.

But i'm doin the same setup (AEM F/IC & AEM EUGO) as you so let us know what works and what doesn't

The white wire is for a 5V analog output to connect to an EMS. I use it with my AEM EMS I did for the IS300. I use it for closed loop O2 feedback while cruising.

Paul, thanks for the shipment! Everything was in order. Good job.
The PnP harness has one white (?) wire tape out. Do you know whats its for.

Have you ever connected UEGO to d17?

Re: Quick question about UEGO

You can't connect a wideband signal to a narrowband input. The voltages don't jive. A standard narrowband reads 0-1V and a wideband reads 0-5V.

(Images courtesy of PLX Devices)

If your car is an 01-03 non hx, your stock primary sensor is a narrowband. Depending on the wideband you are running, you can use a narrowband signal to replace the stock narrowband sensor with a wideband.

Not sure abot AEM but most aftermarket widebands have four wires. +12V ignition source for power, ground, 0-5V wideband output (for aftermarket standalones, piggybacks, etc.) and 0-1V narrowband output (for stock ecus utilizing a narrowband primary o2 sensor.

You can't connect a signal wire to an engine. The output wires from wideband boxes must connect to a computer. Most aftermarket computers are compatible with aftermarket sensors. Not sure about the AEM piggyback but I know the EMS has a wizard to select what type of sensor you're running (AEM, PLX, Innovate, etc.) and it has a pre calibrated map for voltage vs. AFR so there was no additional setup.

Re: Quick question about UEGO

My bad here,
I should've looked up this at AEM forums earlier, thanks drew22mader. They have it all explained there.
This white wire is optional and it used in conjunction with their EMS, but not with F/IC.
So white (and blue) can be left out.

Thanks everyone who pitched in to help this fool (myself)

The white wire will be used at a later time for a datalogging software AEM is almost through developing for the F/IC. They informed me of where to include it for the time being.

Re: Quick question about UEGO

If it was awful you would have blown up a long time ago. At least you will have a better way to monitor your car and how your air/fuel ratios are at different conditions; ie WOT, partial throttle, idle.
