Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
the more surface area you have thats open to direct contact (the front face) the more efficient it'll be, but it wont make much difference during normal driving, only when you drive hard and actually tax the cooling system will it be noticeable.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Correct. The stock radiator would likely be more efficient simply because it covers a more widespread area up front even though it is thinner. All things considered this works for my situation, its not for everyone though. A long 5th gear top end pull, which is bad in any case, would certainly get the temps to climb no doubt. I wont ever put that kind of beating on this car though. Short bursts, keep the heat down, keep it alive.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Got the IC mounted tonight. No pics yet sorry. Started raining. I've been working on cleaning up the car and redoing some guage wiring and such. Modified the water outlets a little bit, tapped in for my turbo water lines and coolant temp. Also figured out the rad. hose situation and IC piping arrangement. Hoping to get a lot done on sunday.
Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Cool...besides the motor is there anything else thats going to be put on the car for the exterior or interior? anything beneficial or whatever to your whole setup. or is this strictly a motor build for the em2

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
I already have some stuff done to the car as far as appearance go. It started life as a HFP civic so its got nice 16" wheels, the honda lip kit, a little lowering and I added an DC5 ITR knockoff spoiler. Also added an ebay grille which was painted to match the car. Plain and simple, I absolutely hate rice. I wish every part I bought could have a Honda part number, hehe. The car looks clean and OEM-ish, thats how I want it.
I have pics of the final mockup. Coming along nicely, still a lot to do though. I just kinda slapped stuff in to make sure everything would fit. Just as always things do need some tweeking. Dont mind the mess. PS I'll send my old pics of the car for those of you who havent seen it before.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Its getting there Andy. Its amazing how much time its taking, definetely a little longer than I though but it should be well worth it. Im not rushing it though, if I need something I wont just put it together with what I have, I'll wait till I get what I really want. I always just rig things up to get by but I'm just tired of doing that. Its such a great feeling to put the thing together right the first time haha.

Its just a stainless trim piece. Its been on there a while. I like it a lil better than the stock cover.
Andy, I'd definenetly like to take the trip. I'll see how things look if I can keep this car together. Haha.

Lots of progress this weekend. I put in about 25-30 hours since friday afternoon. This was a BIG *** project. Pretty much everything in the front of the cowl had to be rearanged, hehe. Still have a lot left but I'm definetely on the downhill portion of this project.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
I have an AEM 1070 box. I think I got one of the first one's haha. I had even paid for it before they were out, mine was like number 000008 or something. Still lots of little stuff to do. I need about another $600 to get it going and whatever its going to cost for tuning. I think the injectors are going to whack me 350ish. I need a few AN fittings, heat wrap, blab blah blah. Nickle and diming me to no end here. I was expecting it though.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Yeah Andy, I gotta do that I think. Im running low on funds. I gotta dig up whatever I can find around that I can slap on ebay. Hahaha.
I did some more work tonight. I rigged up my throttle cable bracket and mounted my coolant catch can and my crank evac catch can. Doesnt sound like much but trying to find a nice place for things keeps getting harder. I did pick up a sick oil cooler for free thats almost brand new. Hopefully I can find a good spot to jam that as well, hehe.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
still tinkering away. Ordering the injectors tonight, got everything else including a solenoid to use the boost control on the AEM box. I'm seriously pondering giving Jeff Evans a call to have him tune this car. I think it would be worth the 6 hour drive and the wait to be penciled in. I've gone all out with everything else, why not the tune as well?
I have about a half hour left in wiring, the hot side IC piping, vaccuum manifold, boost control, valve adjustment, exhaust to DP connection and a few other things left. Its so damn humid out lately I havent been in the mood to work, hehe.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
everything came togethr nicely god job. um another question. its cool that u wana go all out on the tune..but u said its a 6 hour drive. would u be literally DRIVING this car to the shop to tune it? can u drive 6 hours without a tune, wouldnt that be um i duno...not smart? just wondering..
by the way once again..that filter is so cool.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
I have 2 trucks and either an open trailer availible to me also an enclosed I could probably borrow. The car has the old tune, that, combined with automapping with my wideband, my buddies dyno and wideband for comparison, theoretically I could do a conservative tune with all of our knowledge and be ok but I really dont even want to take any chances. I'd rather take it to someone I dont have to question.
Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
EGR blockoff plate? I'd really like to do that on mine as well. Looking good man. Yeah, I've talked with Justin about it and I'm very interested in getting tuned by Jeff as well. You know you can't go wrong there, I say go for it!

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Did he tune Justins car? I gotta take that EGR plate off and repolish it. If I can dig up some aluminum I'll try and make a few and send ya one.

Re: My New Turbo Set-Up Thread
Nah, jeff didnt tune my car. His schedule is so far out I couldnt get the car in there on any sort of acceptable time frame. It seems that you either get on his list when you start, or you have the car tuned, then go to him to get it perfected.
