a ex head will fit a lx. im sure if you work the head it will work fine on lx block. and no you will not need to reprogram the key. search for a minime swap.

Unless you're revving it to 9 grand, you don't need new valves.

yes you can put an ex head on an lx. you need the ex head and head gasket and a vafc-ii. no work needs to be done to the block. if you have an 04-05 good luck finding the ecu pinouts when it comes time to wire the vafc-ii. ive got my car torn all apart rebuilding the motor and doin a head swap and i still cant find the pinouts.

if you decide to swap the ecu to EX model, then you need a new key. but not if you use vafcii to adjust vtec and fuel.

a guy at a shop told me that if u did the vafc2 and use that set-up after about a year and a half it would get f-ed up, cuz of the lx ecu or something. didnt really understand it but he said its basically just going to wear out(the controller that is)

and ya it wouldnt be worth it, like its what maybe a grand or 1500? and like 7hp? lol

Well I've never seen valves add HP, and its gonna take a lot more than valves and a head swap to go beyond the stock redline. (even still, it appears from reading around that even aftermarket valves are no guarantee against bending or snapping one) In the context of the OP, who appears to only want to swap a head, stainless valves are utterly pointless, so why put in new valves when the stock $6 valves work more than adequately?

No where in my post did I state that the valves add power. So I am unsure where you derived that notion from.

With respect to power on a different note....higher reving capability allows for a larger, more broad power band, which in essence on persay a turbo car with a decently sized turbo could produce some great mounds of power and be able to breathe more on the top end. Similar can be said with power bands that seem to climb to and past redline of 6250. Small turbos that peak HP at 5K RPMS would not benefit from them.

The stock valves take quite a beating on this app when boosted or not due to the rocker arm assembly. They snap these valves open and closed VERY quickly putting lots of strain on the stock valves. I have seen numerous Honda motors including the D17 melt valves with turbo, nitrous etc.
