Rep Power: 290 Tranny Dead!!! One Question!
Ok my tranny is DEAD!
It no longer goes in to 3rd gear!
My question is, if I get an 04 (EX) tranny...
Is the "gearing any different on the 04" compared to my "old 02 EX tranny?"
The search button tells me NO! But I would like to hear that from some of the people who have an 04 tranny on their 02's.
Any difference AT ALL????
Well thanks;
Too any advice anyone can give me for this next endeavor I will be facing.

Rep Power: 290 Ok stronger.
Ummm do you have any evidence to back this up?
Or are you just assuming that Honda got its act together in 03 & made the tranny "better" or "stronger."
I guess my point is do you think in 2003 Honda decided to make trannys different then they did in 2002??
any incite anyone??????

Rep Power: 323 I do belive that gearing is the same from all the EX civics from 01-05. I know that the gearing is different from the DX/LX manual trannies compared to the EX. There are really two benefits to getting an 04 transmission - Better schyncros and it's most likely to have less miles on it then any 02 tranny you would be able to find. Maybe now would be a good time to get an aftermarket clutch as well

Rep Power: 323 Yes, you can damage it more. If the schyncros wear down to the point where they break, that can spell the total end for your tranny. Little pieces of crap floating around in the oil is quite bad for the gears. If I were you, I'd try to avoid third all together

Rep Power: 273 well.. if your still driving it.. hell just drain ur tranny fluid and put in some syncro mesh.. it will help it out a bit.. at least make it easier to drive... then if you can find one at ur local store put in a magnetic tranny drain plug... these are all cheap things you can do in like 30 minutes
