Rep Power: 0 14 Civic battery goes dead
We have a 2014 Honda Civic that is 14 months old and only 6000 miles. Each time that we go on an extended vacation, we come back to a dead battery. The first time Honda blamed in on the factory installed battery and the time it was not used from installation to purchase. The second time, they admitted that the design of the car has an .018amp/hr drain on the battery even when the car is turned off. In about 3 weeks, this constant drain could drain the battery enough so the car will not start. This has been confirmed by both our dealer and the Honda Corporate support line. There is nothing that Honda will do about this problem. Be warned!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2012 Civic Dead Battery Problem
Thread moved.
The drain is absolutely normal, and it's normal for all modern cars. There are tons of electronics that require a constant power supply in all modern cars.
Some cars have more drain than others, but it's still normal and ok and expected.
If you expect to leave the car sitting for extended periods of time, you may want to get a battery tender and attach it to the battery to keep it charged up while it sits.
Or disconnect the battery before you leave.
Or remove the shipping fuses.
These options may require some additional work to get everything in the car working again though.
