CVT trans...how many miles did your trans last?

I have a 2004 Civic HX with the famous CVT trans.
Car just turned 160k . Just the other day, tranie started making noise. I changed the trannie fluid every 20k.
The transmission will cost me $2500
For a rebuilt one. Honda advertise fuel savings. .but if you keep your Honda for long term. You lose it to the trannie replacement.
Is this normal?

Yes. Ive always used Honda CVT trans fluid.
My take is that these CVT trans do not hold up in the long run. No more CTV for my family. So end result, im lucky to even get that many miles -

Honda had early struggles once the DE contenting kicked in with their autos.

And yours was likely one of the earliest CVTs for use in US.

I drove a 2015 CVT and thought it acceptable for my style of driving (old man) but love the power and accel of my 2010 and its 5AT though.

This is my concern. I have an 06 EX that just turned 300,000 miles and I am looking into the 2016. This CVT has me concerned that it won't get me another 300,000 miles to get me to my retirement.

Re: CVT trans...how many miles did your trans last?

Congrats on 300k

It likely would reach that goal.... but I'd be all over frequent fluid changes. The 16s are wonderful looking.

The CVT is likely to stay.... like it or not. That extra .03 MPG advantage, over all else.
