Hey! Look At Me!! I'm a Supporting Member!! After piecing together my turbo "kit" for the past 6 months, I finally have everything lined up and ready to install. Initially the car was gonna go to the shop for the winter getting de-dinged and possibly painted a different color. I was supposed to move a few months ago and buy another car in the process, but neither happened so Im left with my civic having to go through another winter, but this time I have a turbo begging to be installed. Everyone I talk to says I should wait for spring to come before I install. I just want to know what you daily driven civic owners do for the snow season? does anyone go back to stock? avoid driving in the snow? I just have this picture in my mind of my intercooler packed with snow and my clutch not being happy with me.
I drive mine all year long. Just put on some winter tires and don't hit boost.

This is why I love winter, the turbo spools much faster and hits harder.Originally Posted by 03-Acura-1.7-EL
Enjoy few free HP's when it cooler! Here in Oklahoma we barely get any ice or snow, but on the days that we do, I just take it easy and stay out of boost. Switch over to some winter or all season tires if you have more than 1 set of rims and you will be good to go.
Just put ur snow tires on and your pedal to the floor.
lol......seriously, i just drive it like normal. If it is really cold, you won't reach full boost anyway b/c the exhaust temps are lower.

what if water level is high and its pouring rain outside. Would the intercooler be safe in water?

i washed my car with the intercooler piping connected but nothing ever happend. Could it possibly damage the intercooler? The pipings are clamped tight, is there a chance for water to go through the piping clamps into the throttle body?
I drove for hours going one time when it was rainy as hell and thats when I blew the hg, but I dont think its from water, it was from driving in the 6K+ rpms for hours that cause the blown hg

Hey! Look At Me!! I'm a Supporting Member!! why were you nearly redlining for so long?
IC are sealed people. if water can get in. AIR CAN GET OUT. and therefore no boost. its like a radiator. and u hose that off all the time washing it.
i dont liek winter, SALT, makes engine bay nasty and corrodes ****

do you need a different tune to compensate for the much colder air that the winter has?
winter is a perfect time to hit up the track and see if you can get some better times
I drive mine all the time but then again it never snows here but boosting in cold weather is fun it goes way faster then in the summer

lol
loloh tracks are still open around here in tx area
put your snows on and drop the turbo on. When I lived in ny, a friend had a blown built b18c5 on 14 psi in the summer. in the winter he'd crank the boost up because the extreme cold (~ 0 for 2 months). he always said the car ran so much better in the winter. just an idea.
oh here in FL we have n0 winters
oh here in FL we have n0 winters

^ not true i remember in the late 90's there was a bad snow storm in florida (well bad for you guys, it was only like 3 inches)

I was on my way to a casino which was a 3 hour drive. My friend brought his acura legend 6spd with suspension and i/h/e Originally Posted by skipbarber

When I got there the car was fine, but when we went home, we did the same and my car probably couldnt take it, after that I noticed I had coolant everywhere, then it finally gave up.
THe legend has *****, I mean I would always take him but not by much. maybe by a half a car length.
I laugh when people say im not gunna hit boost on x,y,z days and times......... Hell i have to gradma drive mine or im in boost!
