Oil Temp sensor in the drain plug
I know it can be done... I've seen it done... but doesn't anyone worry about something hitting it? I guess its somewhat safe on the back of the car, but if that busts off, its all over.
So I'm just curious...has anyone on here done it, and do you ever worry about a rock or a stick? Any thing you did to shield it or something? Just wondering...
That seems the easiest way. I don't feel like dropping the pan, but I guess I could use a sandwich adapter...

The sensors are pretty tough, we accidently broke one during installation of a motor. The sensor is sealed, so when the top broke off, nothing came out, it just didn't work.
I have mine in the pan with a bung hole next to the drain plug. Something would have to go under the motor and go up. But I don't really worry about it after we took the broken sensor apart. They are constructed differently from a pressure sensor, as there is no hole in the sensor itself.
