MAJOR problem, please help...

Late last night, my Engine light came on... car ran as though it was out of gas, wouldn't rev past about 3300... Idled like **** (sparatic).... I reset the ECU then the car ran fine. I just let my car idle outside about 10 min ago... Went to sit inside of it and the light's back on...

I look under the car after jackin it up... Oil all over the bottom of the engine, and engine mounts... I'm pretty worried about the car now.. Gonna wipe everything down and see if I can find the leak/leaks... I've installed the turbo with new oil, then did an oil change about 800 miles ago... All of a sudden something went wrong last night... I wasn't even beating on my car... It's raining here so I've been gentle...

Any ideas on what's wrong? I'll be looking at it for a while...

i really don't know what that is...

I checked everything... Filled the car with another qt of oil. My A/F gauge stopped working too...after playing with the wires it works again, BUT i still have the oil issue...

I'm gonna buy a new pan, new bolts, and red silicone sealant. The oil feed line just start leaking, it's leaking where the brass fitting goes into the turbo (came that way). If I take it out and bead it with silicone I hope to solve that problem. I will update daily so keep checking. Hopfully I can grab pics tomorrow...

Hopefully you weren't running too low on oil for too long. Could have damaged a ring or a piston.

Any aftermarket oil pans? If I can score my grandfather's 97 hatch for a while then I may attempt throwing my turbo on a K24.

god damn this cursed setup...

If I can't fix this... Either a K20A3 (SI), and put my turbo on that, or turbo charge and attempt a K24.

Lets just say this... Car can barely idle. There's oil all around the pulleys on the drivers side... Oil around some parts of the pain, aoil coming out of the oil feed line, a messed up primary o2 sensor... that's all i can think of for now... off i go to research some motors...

Compression check, and then do a leakdown test. That'll tell you if anything internal to the motor could be messed up.

Sucks to hear, hope it's something simple. If you want and need to replace with another D17, I know a source you can get a block and head pretty cheap.

did you get any oil on the MAP sensor isolation valve? If so, that is causing your idling problems and your not being able to go past 3000 rpm.

I found that out the hard way. When you get oil on it, it acts incorrectly. It thinks you are at full throttle when in fact you are idling.

If that is what it is, let me know. I will hook you up with a new one.

I also agree with riceburnerex. Compression and leakdown test will tell you if anything is wrong. And the fitting in the top of the turbo should be sealed with teflon tape. If you turned it backward AT ALL while installing the kit, it will leak. Just take the fitting out, re-teflon it, then install it again Making sure it is tight, and DO NOT back it out at all once it is tight.

Here's the update: Motor will be ok. Didn't find oil on the Map sensor but I will look into that more this after noon.

I'm buying a new oil pan and redoing the flange for the oil return. I will be taking the oil feed line out and re-taping it for the leak issue. I'll wipe everything down and see if it fixes my problem. Once I do all this I'm buying a beater, then sending my engine to DHracing for the turbo shortblock. If I have enough money I'll have it ported at the same time.

Either way I'm fixing the motor I have. If it starts to develop probs again without doing anything else to it, I'm gonna swing for the K20A3 or K24. Then send dimensions and whatnot to SF for a new turbo manifold so I can turbo that motor.

Time will tell guys. I appreciate all of you support.
