well since you said all head units are all pretty much the same and since im not happy with the crispness at loud volumes, i should just upgrade my speakers instead of the headunit, right?

and each headunit to their own, surely the higher performance ones are better like Alpine, but the cost is also a lot higher too. but if u were like me and just wanted something better than stock, most aftermarkets will do. i got a sony gt510, its not top notch or anything, but i like it because it plays wma,atrac3,mp3's and such and has an aux in the front so im quite pleased with mines. plus its glows red or green where most aftermarkets glows blue or something

no, u would have to either get some wires to wire them up, or buy a premade speaker harness.

i think im going to just get a new head unit, maybe some sony brand - something cheap though like 100 bucks or below and try to install my tweeters and then go on from there.

i own a panasonic head unit and i love it, cool graphics, plays mp3's, wav's, and has an auxiliary. also is very sleek looking cause it has doesnt have too many buttons for the presets. i like the output of our speakers, well that is with my headunit.

and dont forget if youre going to get aftermarket speakers you also have to get a 4 channel amp or else you wont be able to use the full potential of the speakers

hmm how hard is it to hook up an Amp? i believe i have the wire for an amp already, but someone cut the wires once they sold me the car. so i yanked off the amp wire. and it all works without a sub too?

i have an amp hooked up only with a sub
but i dont use the sub much since it makes all my mirrors vibrates.
i'm only using two channels from the amp and still have two channels left.

can i hook the amp to my rear speakers and expect crispness when loud or is it going to give me more bass (something i don't want)

some sony ones are quite cheap, go for like 70. but those dont have mp3. i say get the gt310 or something, it should be like 100

if u get a chance, check them both out b4 u buy it. frys have a showcase full of them and u get to listen to sound output too, so check it out and see which one u like more personally =] oh and wiring amp to headunit, what do u need to buy other than the obvious amp and amp cable? price?

i wired my amp to a switch and then to the headunit. i think all the cables were like 30 bucks. i believe theres only the power wire running from the head unit to the amp itself. then from the amp theres the ground and output channels.

what is this nissan stuff you are talking about? i think james mentioned this to me months ago.
Im about to find some time to black out my new pair as well - but I don't want to risk messing up the chrome like last time.
It's so much easier to just leave the amber parts and mask that off and paint the circular city light, but i like how i currently have it and will paint it the same way but its hella hard to mask without messing up the chrome.
any ideas?

that doesn't sound right... usually the amp has a power, ground, and output wires. u hook up the ground to any grounding point in the car, and the power u hook up to the positive battery terminal, with an inline fuse close to the battery. from the headunit to the amp, u hook up the aux output rca cables and power control wire(which tells the amp to turn on whenever the headunit is on)

in terms of beam width, sharpness and color at the cutoff the tsx is superior then the e46.

I think the e46 might be slightly brighter and there good a lighting up signs above the cutoff if you have the dot version. The e46 also offer bixenon availability.
